IMHO Truman and Ike were way better, heck Nixon was better....

Hey, he got us escalating in Vietnam... he deserves credit for that.
He did revamp the military to some extent.
The tax cuts, well, he wanted to do them, but since his time in office was cut short, for reasons far beyond my ken, Johnson was the one that pushed the tax cuts through.
Out of character for LBJ and most of those in Congress, from what I've read. Maybe LBJ did it in expectations of failure so as to blame JFK, and dampen the myth, and raise taxes even more?
