A US destroyer poised to strike the Syrian government with Tomahawk missiles could be sunk by torpedoes, a Russian Navy admiral has warned.
A torpedo attack could cause "considerable damage" to USS Donald Cook, a guided missile destroyer operating near Syria, Vladimir Masorin, former commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, has said.
Although Russia probably won't be required to "sink" the Arleigh Burke-class warship, Masorin said the weapon would be effective nonetheless.

The Russian sub crew(s) are certainly sweating bullets. They are surrounded by US, French, British and likely Israeli subs with ASW aircraft and helicopters in the area.
Typical of the Russian Navy that a retired admiral is cavalier with the lives and welfare of Russian sailors.
The pretense of their objection is that the international community must accept the use of chemical weapons against civilians as normal.
