CIA director, Mike Pompeo said al-Qaeda and Iran have always built “secret and open” ties. It doesn’t make sense unless Iran has elected to ignore the ideological differences for the strategic. Hamza bin Laden, the son of late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, and the new leader of al-Qaeda, lives in Iran and works out of Iran. He is supported by Iran. How al-Queda, Iran, Russia and Assad are in collusion tells me they are working against the United States, Western Europe, and Saudi Arabia. Why is this so? You tell me.
As for Saudi Arabia, al-Qaeda is not their friend. When al-Qaeda began to attack the kingdom directly in May 2003, it became an ally with the United States in counter-terrorism. Understanding Saudi Arabia’s relationship with terrorists is complex and beyond my pay grade. It seems as though the kingdom has warmed up to the Trump Administration as a true ally.
As a good indication, Saudi Arabia’s powerful crown prince Mohammed bin Salman has said that Israelis “have the right to have their own land” and that formal relations between Israel and the kingdom could be mutually beneficial as a potential partner in the kingdom’s cold war with Iran.
