Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted today to altering the sites algorithm to shut down certain speech on the platform. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared before the Energy and Commerce Committee of the House of Representatives in Washington today where he admitted that Facebook does alter its algorithm to shut down certain types of speech. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), questioned Zuckerberg saying; weve done one hearing on the algorithms, I chair a communications and technology subcommittee here, were getting ready to do a second one on algorithms. Were going to do one next week on prioritization so Id like to ask you, do you subjectively manipulate your algorithms to prioritize or censor speech?
Mark Zuckerberg replied; Congresswoman, we dont think what we are doing is censoring speech, I think there are types of content like terrorism which I think we all agree we dont want to have on our service, so we build a system that can identify those and can remove that content and were very proud of that work. Blackburn took Zuckerberg to task saying; let me tell you something right now, Diamond and Silk is not terrorism.

The Free Republic mods can remove whatever posts they like.
And Facebook can remove whatever posts they like.
He’s dead inside.
“Which they have every right to do. They’re a private company.”
Sure about that? Bake me a cake.
Yes. Sometimes I need to invoke my vastly superior intellect. :-P
“Which they have every right to do. They’re a private company.”
Unless you’re a Florist, Baker or Photographer who doesn’t want to cater to gays.
Dont have to go to Facebook. Dont have to go to Twitter. Dont have to go to any of these places to place your opinion.
This is the problem. These sites that do not allow certain people to place their opinion can be ignored.
He’ll go all out to help the Dems in the Midterms ,you haven’t seen Censoring Speech yet
>>Which they have every right to do. They’re a private company.<<
FB promotes itself as a public forum platform, available for equal access and use by all. As such, they are protected from liability by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA). Yes, FB can censor speech, as they now are doing, and in doing so they should lose their status as a public forum and become a regular 1st Amendment entity, such as newspapers and magazines. They should lose their CDA immunity and be liable for the content of every post by their 3 billion members. FB wants it both ways; it must not permitted to operate in such a manner.
Facebook is like television...originally TV was a wonderful concept in mass communication, then it fell into the wrong hands, morphing from mass communication, to mass brainwashing.
Which is why I no longer watch TV.
Free Republic is openly, and proudly, conservative, and I do not know that anyone has ever accused them of monetizing their user’s data(if I’m wrong, please someone inform me).
Definition of “not censuring”:
When I use a word, Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.

The question is, said Alice, whether you can make words mean so many different things.

The question is, said Humpty Dumpty, which is to be master — thats all.’
—Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass
That is correct. The problem here is that little pricks like this will actually cause the shyster politicians to get their filthy grubby hands into complete control of the internet.
That is their end game IMO.
Let’s let the adults, the SCOTUS, decide that XUCKY
Two guys named Clayton and Sherman should see that it happens.
What is amazing to me how people like Zuckerberg...Bill Clinton, Rubenstein, and virtually everybody on the left, can lie with such a blank face.
They are also a functional monopoly - so not really.
Some are more equal than others.
Spoken like a TRUE BEARD for the CIA and NSA.
