Roger L Simon: Trump Must Be the Strong Horse Now
pjmedia.com ^ | 4/10/2018 | Roger L. Simon

So Trump must be the strong horse and he must do it swiftly and thoroughly. In response to Assad's use of gas, he must deliver a heavy punishment (huge, in his words) all at once to the Syrians and their allies -- Russia, Iran and Iran's lackey those international drug pushers Hezbollah.

This does not mean getting ensnared in a war. Just administer a deep, serious and paralyzing wound they will never forget and get out. Destroy Syria's air fields and planes, as an example, laying waste to Russia's missile defenses in the process. Increase economic sanctions on Putin to the max. The ruble is already tanking. Keep up the pressure until Putin blinks or the Russian people rise up against the dictator. Blast every discernible Iranian presence in Syria to kingdom come while warning the mullahs the same will happen to them at home if they make a peep. And, of course, void the absurd nuclear deal with the added warning that even the slightest move to atomic weaponry on their part will mean a massive air attack.

And assassinating Assad would be a benefit to humanity into the bargain, no matter what Vogue magazine may have said.

Do not wait for the UN to authorize any of this because that would never happen. If a coalition of the willing joins us, whether it's the French, the British, the Saudis or whoever, so much the better. But again -- don't wait.

What Trump does will be viewed carefully in Beijing and Pyongyang, and the Chinese and North Koreans will react accordingly.

Already he seems to have been making headway with them. Xi Jinping announced a series of conciliatory trade measures Monday; Little Rocket Man wants to talk.

Attack Russian missile sites and assassinate Assad, who’s Syria is orders of magnitude more free than Saudi Arabia, and do it on behalf of Al Qeida. Utterly insane and depraved.

Roger L. Simon (European-style Socialist/Coastal Elite/Globalist/Rootless Cosmopolitan), sure does want to go to war in the Middle East again. I didn’t catch how America’s national interest is served. He said humanity would benefit from assassinating Assad. Neocons have an interesting idea of what benefits “humanity”.

Perhaps Trump should stick to his original statement and pull our troops out of Syria completely. It is NOT the U.S.’s war. Let the middle east countries fight to the death and then wipe out the winners should they pose a treat to other countries.

In response to Assad's use of gas...

Why are we so quick to assume that Assad did it? He is winning. Why would he gas his own people?

There are plenty of terrorists who are happy to kill by any means, especially if someone else gets the blame, like their enemy, Assad.

Something does not add up here.

If Congress is not willing to approve the use of nukes against Syria, then we shouldn’t send U.S. soldiers there to be used as cannonfodder.

As Tokyo Japan proved, terrorists can make or obtain Sarin gas. Chlorine gas is easy to make and deadly. Many times more easy than other deadly weapons. A big question is why do people think only Assad’s government could make such a chemical agent? Any of the countries or small terrorists organizations could at least make the gas.

“This does not mean getting ensnared in a war. Just administer a deep, serious and paralyzing wound they will never forget and get out.”

Actually, if we do that, we no longer can control whether or not we get ‘ensnared in a war’.

It’s amazing how STUPID the Neocons (and their supporters here) are - they think we prod the shit out of Russia, over and over again, and then somehow control their response - EVERY TIME.

Those agitating for US involvement in the Syrian war need to make a credible case that A. Assad's regime is a security threat to the US and its NATO allies and B. there is a realistic, viable, and superior alternative for Syria if Assad is overthrown.

The neocons getting hysterical over Assad have demonstrated neither, because both premises A and B are false, unless they genuinely believe that a Muslim Brotherhood or Al Nusra-run Syria is preferable to Assad.
