Military industrial complex. They want never ending war. Sad that Russia looks truthful and we look like idiots. Truth is Assad is not a saint but he protects the rights of Christians in damascus.

What’s so bad about chemical weapons compared to indiscriminate bombing, the destruction of entire cities in proxy civil war, Obama and McCain’s support of various vicious Jihadi groups, the Saudi formation of ISIS, 2 million Syrian young men launched as invaders to Europe, etc...?

Sorry, I am all out of outrage.

Except that, in the McCarthy era, there really were Russian agents and true-believing communists in the Departments of Agriculture, State, and Treasury and Army. And McCarthy didn’t have the powers that Mueller can bring to bear. Also, there was reasonably free and intellectually honest press.

It’s far worse today.

Or to quote Archie Bunker....

Assad first sold his soul to al Qaeda after the US invaded Iraq and allowed the Saddam dead enders and foreign Jihadi to use Syria as a base for their insurgency Iraq.

By the time al Qaeda was kicked out of Iraq, they had formed a very strong presence of hard core fighters inside of Syria who made up the nucleus of what was to become ISIS Jihadi mercenaries bent on overthrowing Assad.

Assad resold sold his soul to Iran and Russia in order to survive the ISSI foreign insurgency and without Hezbollah Assad would have been gone years ago.

Now that ISIS has been largely defeated, Iran's Hezbollah now effectively controls much of Syria and Lebanon and is moving in on Iraq, Gaza and Jordan - with the encirclement and destruction of Israel and then Saudi Arabia and it's oil fields next as near term goal for Iran and Russia

Flush with Nuclear Deal ObamaBucks and fielding Russia's most sophisticated missile and weapons systems, Iran is a serious threat seriously working to make good on that threat

The US has no option but to remain engaged in the region because the stakes are too high and both Iran and Russia are aggressively pushing their dangerous agendas in a power vacuum full of weakened players who who allow to Iran and Russia to achieve their goals with the relatively limited resources available to them.

The stakes are so high and the threat is so serious that the Saudis are teaming up with their arch enemy Israelis to fight the growing threat from Iran and Russia

The same general weakness and power vacuum allows the US to effectively combat the threat with a relatively small Special Forces contingent on the ground working with local player and supported buy American air and artillery

The US and Israel are the only players capable of resisting and Israel is too small to fight this menace on their own so pulling our forces from the region simply is not an option if we wis to head off the steady march to the impending Armageddon in the region.

We have seen what happened in Iraq and not make that mistake again because the consequences will be much worse the second time around.

TPTB = The Powers that Be...
those who think by the people, for the people is just a catchy phrase to keep us believing they give a crap about our wishes, or aspirations for ourselves or generations to follow.

I’d say so. The ruling political party under Saddam was the Ba’ath Party. The ruling political party in Syria is the Ba’ath Party.

What happened in Iraq was chaos, caused by our invasion and toppling of Saddam, Iran’s biggest for. Now the neocons want us to pull the same mad stunt in Syria. Syrias Christians will be massacred if you and the McCainiacscget your way, just as Ahappened to Iraq’s Christians after our regime change invasion

It's true, we destroyed the balance of power in the Middle East by our overthow of Saddam and subsequent premature withdrawal under Obama and Obama’s open support of Jihad in the region

We just cleaned that mess up and we simply cannot cut and run to allow weak players like Russia and Iran fill the vaccum and take over the region on the cheap

Regime change in Syria means more chaos and bloodshed. As a Christian, I’m most concerned about the fate of Syrias Christians. The jihadis will destroy them once we’ve toppled the government and unleashed chaos. Cecactly what happened in Iraq - and it happened well before Obama took power. I sense that like most neocons you don’t give a rip about the regions Christians. Let them be slaughtered to serve your regional agenda

The satellite images of warplanes over the region hit by Chlorine gas and the location where they landed should be evidence. Also, the images of affected victims, dead and alive. Haven’t you seen the pictures?

no I won’t “bet on that”. Trump himself said we were lied into the Iraq war. We’re being lied into another one now

Would you say, “We have no business in Germany,” after evidence of Jews being gassed? You do understand that the gassing of innocent civilians is a crime?

Your HTML formatting failed. I think this is the image you were trying to post:

Iran can bring in any poison gas that Assad needs, since Iran is an ally. The gassing of Syrian citizens in Douma is just for practice on what Iran intends to do on Israel.

The $Trillions we spent on the Iraq war was pissed away by Zer0’s withdrawal of U.S. troops. We should have maintained an occupation force to nip the bud of any Iranian shenanigans. Zer0 gave Iran an open door to Iraq. I believe Zer0 did this on purpose to sabotage G.W.’s military success. I also believe that Saddam did have nukes and chemical weapons. Someone tipped him off that we were going to invade and Saddam transported all of the WMDs into Syria. Syria is a most dangerous nation because of it because we don’t want a rebel force to take over Syria and have access to those WMDs.

Not in favor of regime change in Syria at all.

Am very much in favor of massive air strikes to destroy the already massive and steadily growing Iranian stockpiles of sophisticated Russian weaponry and missiles in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen and the extensive Iranian fortifications along the Lebanese and Golan borders with Israel and the Yemen border with Saudi Arabia before they can be used to start a war with Israel and the Saudis.

This does not start a war, it prevents a war before one starts.

It's pretty hard to kill Christians when your ammo dumps and your Jihadi terrorists have been bombed into the pre stoneage.

FWIW, I seriously doubt that Assad and the Russians would be stupid enough to use chem weapons against civilians under the circumstances , but this is the Middle East so you never know.

Using the gas attack, regardless of who is responsible, as a pretext for massive international punitive action would seem to be the most effective deterrent to regulating the use of WMDs by the tyrants in region and deterring them from committing or allowing others to commit atrocities against any and all innocent civilians, Christians included

After this is finished, Assad can start to rebuild Syria along more peaceful line without being a threat to his neighbors.

Like it or not, Iran has emerged as a dominant power in the region and is using the power vaccum to consolidate control and drive the region to general, full scale and total war in the near term future. They must be destroyed before they are strong enough to launch their long prepared for war in the region

The chaos in Iraq was Zer0’s premature withdrawal and the failure to leave an occupation force in Iraq. Did you forget?
