If we were persistent enough and had a real intelligence agency (LOL), we could probably get a Syrian general to remove Assad and boot both the Russians and Iranians out in exchange for opening up Syria and reconstruction money.
That's what we would have done during the Cold War.

My overarching view of events in Syria and all the Mideast is based on the datum that China has the reconstruction money these days.
And China desperately needs the Mideast to spend it’s oil money on Chinese products. Not sustainable for China to send money there and get none back.
