ounger Americans have long told pollsters that they plan to vote and they are set to make good on that promise this fall in historic numbers.
And when they do, it will be a wave favoring the Democrats, according to a new survey of voters aged 18-29 from Harvard University’s Institute of Politics being released Tuesday.
The survey found that 53 percent probably or definitely will be voting. And of those most likely to vote, 55 percent lean Democratic and 21 percent Republican.

The problem is not the “babies.”
White young people consistently vote about 55% Republican.
Unfortunately, in 2018, close to half of all young people are non-white, and they vote 80% Democrat.
I've been preaching this same political sermon at Free Republic for almost 15 years.
And for the last 15 years, most Republicans have been standing around, silently watching the number of LEGAL immigrants go up every year.
If America is destroyed in the voting booth, we have only ourselves to blame.
They vote if they don’t over sleep or there’s not a party or a video game they want to play.
There has always been a strong youth vote, even stronger than we have now, when the birthrates are falling.
And we’ve always been able to elect Republicans and conservatives.

I surmise that the post-17th Amendment ratification, vote-winning, constitutionally non-enumerated “right” to have an abortion has hurt the Democrats more than it has hurt RINOs.

Only Obama has gotten the youth vote energized. I don’t think it will happen during a midterm.
Which is why the Obamanation was quite content on keeping them there and saddling them with student loan debt to be paid for by wages earned at Starbucks.

I interact with youth on Facebook and I have repeatedly told them just how badly they are going to do themselves in, if they vote to the left.
They keep telling me that it can be done like Europe and nations like Venezuela are just aberrations that can be avoided.
I’m just I am now fifty. I can go on a mountaintop to die. It should only take a week, if I don’t get eaten first.

This story has been written over and over since the 1960s. If it were true, we’d have a Dem-dominated government already and the GOP be a small minority. And yet, as of now, we have more GOP officeholders than at any time since the 1920s. Why? Because the “youth” never vote. And many of them become conservative as they get older.
Why would anybody vote republican? Never has there been a more feckless corrupt party in congress.

I agree with you 90% of the way. Unfortunately, the Dems are lowlifes to an even greater degree than out Republican Congressmen. That’s hard to imagine as being true, but it is.

In a way, I hope the Demonrats do take over in November. It is time for the American people to see who they really are. It may take a bloody civil war to learn that painful set of lessons all over again. You know the Demonrats from Justice John Paul Stevens on down are just itching for such a bloodbath. Let it come in my time, I say, that my children may be free.
