McConnell says he's open to paring back US spending bill

The Senate’s top Republican said Tuesday that he’s open to a proposal from the White House to pare back a hard-fought spending package that has come under assault from party conservatives.

But at the same time, Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell said the idea of cutting billions of dollars of just-approved spending may not have enough support to pass the narrowly divided Senate.

The idea is being floated by the Trump White House with support from top Republicans like House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, though it’s clear that there isn’t enough support to pass such a package through Congress. Several Republicans on the Appropriations Committee, including Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, say they’re against the idea.

“It’s going nowhere,” Graham said. “We made a deal.”

On Tuesday, McConnell, who supervised the lengthy talks that produced last month’s $1.3 trillion government spending bill, said he’s open to considering the idea.

“It’s no secret that the omnibus bill was larger than most Republicans would like. But it was a bipartisan negotiation,” McConnell told reporters. “Having said that, I’m willing to discuss with the administration the possibility of some kind of a rescissions package. I think it’s worth a discussion. Whether that’s achievable is another matter.” …

This kind of sniveling pandering is perfect for Ole Turtle Head. He gets to look like he is on the side of the base, but when he doesn’t actually hold a vote, there is absolutely nothing on the record that says that anybody voted for or against a clawback. Perfect. No records in politics are perfect for the politicians. And of course, the media will cover for him 100%. He’s practically a Demonrat anyway, as are most Republicans in Congress.

““It’s going nowhere,” Graham said. “We made a deal.””

When you look in the dictionary under “worthless pr!ck,” you find Graham’s likeness! Making “deals” with DemoRATs isn’t why we sent you to the Senate Lindsey.

Turtle Face needs to step down due to his lack of spine, guts, and his severe lack of cajones. I recommend Turtle Face read “Secret Empires” by Peter Schweizer. It’s definitely not a resume enhancer for the supposed RINO Senator.

Yeah, majority leader of the Senate, what are you going to say (let alone, do) about the non-stop partisan attacks on our President, on the Constitution and on the rule of law? ... Huh, Mr. McConnell??!!

If baseline budgeting is still be done, paring back won’t be.

The RINOs didn’t roll over for anyone. They fought hard for their leftist spending goals. They might have bent over, but darn it, they wanted to and did it of their own will.

> I’m willing to discuss with the administration...

Proving that he is part of the opposition party.

It’s a brazen admission, not a tacit one.
