WASHINGTON — Florida Gov. Rick Scott will run for Senate, a Scott political adviser confirmed to NBC News on Monday, challenging longtime incumbent Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson and turning up the heat in what will be one of the nation's most-watched midterm election battles.
Scott's move sets up a contentious and pricey battle for Democrats to defend the seat they've held for almost two decades, but also brings President Donald Trump's possible impact on down-ballot races into close focus yet again.
The president has been urging Scott — a key supporter of Trump for president in 2016 — for months publicly and privately to run for the seat, held by Nelson since 2000. Trump considers Florida his second home and has spent most winter weekends as president at his Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach.

That maybe true but he stabbed gun owners in the back and they have long memories. He will have a hard time winning because of his cave to the Democrats. He will not win any in the voting booth and will lose conservative votes and his gun control will do nothing to stop the next shooting. In caving to the liberals, he chose poorly.

Legal immigration will make the Dems the permanent majority party within a decade. Amnesty just hastens the process.

At this point, that is ALL THAT COUNTS regarding the Senate.
I surely hope there aren’t any conservatives planning to stay home rather than vote for Scott over Nelson. In the absence of a stronger candidate I will vote for Scott in the primary, and I will vote for ANY candidate over Nelson. I’ve long since abandoned sacrificing the good and insisting on the perfect when it comes to politicians.
Please understand Nelson is a dye in the wood leftist. He ran originally as a conservative, and tries to appeal to Florida voters as middle-of-the-road. His voting record is appalling.
