Vitamin d3 every day for breastfeeding or bottlefeeding. The drops where one drop is 1000 IU. Put one drop on the nipple. The baby will get a less strong case if he gets it at all.

Really? Probably the same reason whooping cough, TB, measles, mumps, etc...they’re coming across the border.

“We may never know why this disease is making a comeback.”

Here’s a hint. There is most likely not a federal immunization program in the countries from which your illegal “visitors” originated.

We may never know why this disease is making a comeback.

I think something that happened in Washington, DC in 1965--perpetrated, in large pert, by a guy later to be known as the Hero of Chappaquiddick--has a lot to do with it.

*** The highly contagious infection mainly affects young children and is not usually serious if treated. ***

Yeah, tell that to The Velveteen Rabbit.

While in the Navy, living in the BEQ at NAB Coronado I was diagnosed with scarlatina. That’s right, back in 1990, I somehow got it in the US. Very strange. I was confined to barracks for a week.

Misuse of antibiotics is probably a factor. A child can be diagnosed with strep and prescribed 14 days of antibiotics, but if the parents don’t administer the full course, the infection can both be passed on and produce secondary outcomes such as scarlet fevers.

Poor hygiene in daycare centers and school likely also contributes.

“We may never know why this disease is making a
comeback”.......

Perhaps, but I would look at the incoming “migrants” as a possible source.

We may never know why this disease is making a comeback.

Exactly, the variables are just too complex. On the other hand, Mans activities are the root cause of climate change,... we have consensus.

My daughter had this in 82 or 83. She WAS treated. Originally they thought she had rheumatic fever. But decided she “only” had scarlet fever. All her joints were swollen to the point she could barely move. Her hands didn’t look like hands they looked like paws. She couldn’t bend her knees. She wore gloves for weeks after the swelling went down to cover the flaking skin. She was out of school for 5 weeks. A very terrible time. Maybe they have better treatments in the 21st century.

I had scarlet fever as a child in the 50s. It left me with a heart murmer.
