The uniparty still exists as it did back then, and they re just as anti-military today as they were then.

In the aftermath of this bill, you have two options: continue supporting the President moving forward...or drop your support for the President, exposing yourself as a #NeverTrumper.

The preservation of liberty requires more intelligence and sophistication than this. I believe the President made a huge mistake by signing the Omnibus Bill and this mistake is costly for America. For this reason I make it clear to others that my support for the President is conditional and is diminished by such bad decisions. My estimation is that unconditional and unquestioning support will lead to more bad decisions by Pres. Trump. Negative feedback from conservatives when he capitulates to the swamp will help keep him on track.

I can remember that and how the central character was a major league ass despised by his colleagues.

This might tickle your fancy. I remember many years ago how I was waiting for my food at a diner when someone sitting at the counter let out a loud fart. Some might think that hysterical too! The Great Santini in your face crudity. You and your friends are right.

The adolescents from Parkland High School must be following that example. Scream, yell, throw a tantrum!!!! Manners are out the window!!!

There were 'blue dog' Democrats who actually sided with the GOP in crucial votes.

That isn't the case today.

Think about it. The legislature produced that bill. They didn’t shove it down their own throats any more than the Menendez brothers are victims of the murder they committed.

Funny about that movie. Each time I see it, I like it a little less. What was outrageous and hilarious on first viewing became unfunny, then hateful over time, and the way he treated his family, his son especially, made for a bummer. Doubt I’ll watch it again.

Your first premise is incorrect.

My premise was stated blatantly in the excerpt I provided.
To wit ...

The fact that the 2,232-page bill was jammed down legislators’ throats

“I loose sleep over the wickedness of our nation.”

There is no president that can help you with that.

No one mortal man will ever be able to take care of that issue.

Nobody is asking for unconditional support, but abandoning the President while he's under threat of an attempted coup would prove that you have absolutely no sense of perspective.

You can't have it both ways. This is the real world, If you say "I can't support the President anymore because of this vote", then you've become a G-d damn #NeverTrumper, plain and simple. Nobody's saying you can't disagree, but DROPPING your support is much worse than disagreeing.

So if that's where you stand, you're not welcome in this community, and you'll eventually realize that, one way or another.

With all due respect, if you can no longer support the President moving forward, then take your Trump-hating butt to a community that tolerates wishy-washy #NeverTrump masturbation.

Just to clarify: I disagreed with the President signing this bill as well—but I'm not a sunshine patriot. I support him moving forward. If you don't then step off, because you're a de facto #NeverTrumper. Straddling the fence—or rather, attempting to—is childish petulance.

You remind me of some of the weak-minded Founders during the Revolution who wanted to replace General Washington every time he made an error—thereby undermining the cause by damaging morale. That's the real world. Get over your butthurt. You either support the President today—right now, moving forward—or you're a dirty #NeverTrumper.

Ah, but don’t cloud the attempt at finding something positive out of the Omnibus disaster by point out the bigger reality of the bloated bill. /s

Pat Conroy had a very love/hate relationship with his father. A lot of that you see in this story because it is based on real events.

Sadly, a lot of people were raised that way back then.

The story is really about his father and the author growing up back in the 50s.

I spent 22 years active duty, and I knew men like this, men who were warriors, but also fathers. Some were good fathers, others weren’t.

I’m sure in this story there were embellishments, points left out, and really, the major perspective was from the eyes of the son.

And if anyone dunked my head in the toilet, I would—oh yes I would—get revenge.

This is an election year pro incumbent budget. Voters want their representatives to bring home the bacon and the budget delivers. It will help the GOP keep the majority.

The spending will also boost the economy, create jobs, etc. Another plus for the GOP keeping the majority.

I am a voter and I don’t want them spending money unwisely!

Do you even know how an Omnibus bill works? If you did, you wouldn’t have written what you did. Remember the old saying? - better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to opens ones mouth and remove all doubt. Well

Well I still would have said what I said. Because what I said was true!

I went to a year of HS in Ausrin, and actually got a degree years later from TAMU. Right, it is too hot for too many months and no real seasons. I ve lived in half dozen other states and am originally from NE Missouri south of Hannibal. I prefer Texas to CA and Iowa, but not to MO, northern Idaho, Eastern Oregon, and eastern Kansas. The scenery and seasons in the first 3 are a huge attraction for this old country boy. BTW, my in laws from Texas always want to come to MO to deer hunt.

Too hot and no seasons. I prefer the change in seasons and a breather from the hot weather. Also the hunting is far better in Missouri and Idaho. Maybe it has to do with my ancestors coming from Scotland, England, Ireland and Whales.

He is not my friend, I have no idea who he is? I also attended military academy; you have no idea.

Actually Patton swore in mixed company routinely. I’m reading “Patton, A Genius for War” right now. They are just words. Don’t be so sensitive.

No, that was the statement from the article you disagreed with.

First, the legislators who were given a far too short amount of time to read the bill are not the ones who wrote the legislation.

Second, the bill WAS jammed down the legislators’ throats by the action of not allowing enough time for them to read it before being forced to vote on it.

All of that is what you are disagreeing with. And you are wrong.
