Once Again, I Ask: Why Vote Republican?
American Thinker ^ | 3/24/2018

Posted on 03/24/2018 9:06:46 AM PDT by Altura Ct.

Every few months, Republicans behave stupidly, causing their voters to again ask themselves, "Why vote Republican?" Supporting congressional Republicans seems an exercise in futility – Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown, ready to kick a conservative field goal, only to have Lucy pull the football away at the last second. I have asked this question several times on these pages.

We all know the words to the Republican song we have heard every two years for the past decade. The first verse was written in 2010, when Republicans claimed they needed to win the House so they could repeal Obamacare and cut taxes. The band played, and America gave Republicans the House. Obamacare marched on, and taxes weren't cut.

The second verse came in 2014...

What happened after that? Nothing but more excuses.

The third verse played in 2016...

Here we are in 2018, and the fourth verse of the song is playing. Republicans control the White House and Congress. Obamacare has not been repealed, and Mexico has not had to pay for a wall since there is no wall. The omnibus spending bill sailed through Congress. One point three trillion dollars in spending passed by the party of fiscal restraint. Sure, there is increased military spending, but there's only chump change for the border wall, enough funding for only 33 miles on the U.S. southern border. Instead, Ryan's and McConnell's spend-a-thon provides $500 million for a 274-mile wall on Jordan's border with Syria and Iraq, along with a wall for Tunisia, too.

Planned Parenthood is funded, as are sanctuary cities, with catch and release alive and well. Didn't Republicans run on defunding all of this? It's Lucy holding the football, and Charlie Brown taxpayers are left holding the bill.

With this budget do the dems create more expenditures than the republicans did? It looks like democrat budget. So what is the real difference? They are stealing from our children and grandchildren and destroying the country.

The problem is Stockholm syndrome, in which a certain number of people who are immersed in a hostile environment adopt the point of view of their captors. Washington, DC is certainly hostile, with anyone who does not push toxic socialism being subjected to intense bullying from the Democrats and the MSM propaganda machine. Wapo, for example, is a communist mouthpiece pretending to be a news organization, and has been so for decades.

Even a lot of Democrats campaign as conservatives, suggesting that they understand that leftist dictatorship is *not* as popular as they portray it to be in DC. The leftists who go to DC fall right away into tyrannical thinking when in that environment; solid conservatives tend to fall into that mindset more slowly, but do succumb eventually.

The answer is to enact term limits and to end the practice of sending representatives to live in DC. The technology exists for them to telework and teleconference—what need is there for them to reside in the toxic swamp? Limiting their exposure to that environment would, I think, help to insulate them from Stockholm syndrome. They would have the emotional support from being near their constituents, which would also help them to resist the Stockholm syndrome.

As long as we send representatives to DC and give them lifetime tenure, we will continue to see the agenda of the people undermined by would-be totalitarian dictators.

I’m not happy about that funding bill either, but President Trump has shown that he knows what he’s doing. The ICE is still at it, manufacturing is still coming back, and our military is being funded better than it would have been under Hillary. For now, I’m willing to wait to see how this plays out.

Okay, the Republicans just spent $1.3 TRILLION dollars in order to spend $700 BILLION dollars to rebuild a military totally drained by Perpetual War and Social Engineering.

$1.3 TRILLION dollars we don’t have and have to borrow from Communist China whose own military was built on AMERICAN DEBT.

Can you grok that?

America is in grave danger having to borrow from endless numbers of future generations JUST TO KEEP AN ARMY TO DEFEND OURSELVES. And America spends BILLIONS of dollars e it doesn’t have every month on “foreign aid” and other scams and schemes favored by the Global Elites and the Deep State. Soon the INTEREST on our debt will be our LARGEST EXPENDITURE!

It is INSANE! It’s a DISASTER!

But you all keep voting for Republicans who DESPISE you “bitter clingers” every bit as much as Obama and his ilk ever did. Repeat: Your “betters” in Washington HATE you and everything you represent!

Remember: The GOP planned to “run against its base” with Jeb Bush in order to lose in a landslide to a crooked Globalist by the name of Hillary Clinton. The Gravy Train was derailed by one Donald Trump.

Thus the current Coup d état against Trump.

But you all keep “holding your noses” and vote Republican hoping in vain they will “save” the country. Vote Republican, a political party that can’t wait for all you old, white Christian conservative pains-in-the-a** to die so they can hand out guacamole bowls to everyone.

America is in grave danger. Socially, economically, and militarily. We may have a temporary fix of the latter but when the first two collapse a “strong” military won’t matter at all.

Not one ******* bit.

Yeah, vote Republican because “it makes a difference.”

$500 million for a 274-mile wall

think about that for a moment. The first part of that Jordan wall about the same distance cost $300M - including high tech that can see someone 5 miles out. Built by Raytheon. Pretty tall, too.

what's to prevent us doing the same with the $1.6B? Start in a right-to-work state to nix the unions and use part of the $1.6 to start the towers (no tower language in the bill) then use other money captured from other sources outside of the restrictive 'allocated for six months' spending bill? In fact, Raytheon should donate the tower tech to the US, at least in their home state of Arizona, since they made so much on Jordan contracts.

There's always more than one way to skin a cat. We just have to ponder a while.

More like Democrats are AIDS and Republicans are Syphilis.

Yes, perhaps. But syphilis can be cured.

Right now, the only win he needs is to keep his base. A veto would have re-elected him.... well, maybe.

Yeah, vote Republican because “it makes a difference.”

And what are our options?

Not voting? Democrats get elected.

Vote third party? Democrats get elected.

Vote Democrat? When hell freezes over.

We need to elect better Republicans.

Why did he sign it? He caved, signing the death warrant for much of his MAGA agenda as well as his popularity. Yes, it's only the second year of his presidency, but I'll bet that today, he lost a lot of his supporters. Bigly. [...] The easiest way to stymie Trump is to separate him from his supporters. This spending bill, signed by Trump, however reluctantly, will do exactly that.

In a nutshell. Big mistake by the President.

It's more simple than that.

Every $50,000 of government spending has at least 10 constituents attached to it.

That means a $1.3T spending bill has 260 million Americans waiting for it who would vote for Adolph Hitler if he was running against someone threatening to cut it.

That's 260 million in a nation of about 310+ million. You do the math.

If I was in Trump's position I'd veto the bill and send subtle messages to the GOP leadership that I was planning to run for re-election in 2020 as a Democrat.

If you're going to put a Democrat pile of sh!t in front of me to sign, then I might as well be honest with the American public.

Then again ... If I was in Trump's shoes I never would have won in 2016.

I’m surprised at everyone who’s not getting this. This is not a budget. It’s a bill. And Trump controls the spending on every dime of it. BO did this on purpose his whole presidency.
Trump controls where the spending goes and where it won’t go, not Congress. Brilliant!

Because Democrats suck even more.

Really?! One can barely tell the difference anymore these days! The only real difference that I can discern after following politics for 50+ years now is that they just use different tactics or routes for the lack of a better expression to arrive at the same juncture.

Once Again, I Ask: Why Vote Republican?

Because of all this:

Trump has: Cut corporate tax cuts almost in half, cut in billions in regulations, enacted tariffs to protect US jobs, nominated the most conservative justices of any President in history, destroyed ISIS, revoked funding for PP internationally and allowed states to de-fund PP. and, now, managed to provided funding to rebuild our military, which was gutted under Obama. Border security and enforcement infinitely better than it was under Obama.

Republicans are cowards; Democrats are satanic. Any questions?

Kind of sums it up close enough.
