A student was arrested on Friday for allegedly making six false bomb threat reports at Central High School and Endeavor Academy in Hernando County.

The student is a 17-year-old female, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

"I think students don't always think about the consequences of their actions," said Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis, following the student's arrest.

The first two bomb threats were called in on Monday just minutes apart around 12:44 p.m. The third, Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. The 4th and 5th, Wednesday at 7:40 a.m., then again at 10:30 a.m. The 6th threat came in on Thursday before 7:50 a.m.

Parents were in fear of sending their children to school due to the threats.

"We’re afraid to send our son to school. We don’t know what's going to happen, is this a hoax? Or one day are we going to send him and something is going to happen?" said parent Wendy Palmer, prior to the student's arrest.

Only 150 of the 1300 students at Central High went to school on Thursday.

The student has been arrested and charged with six counts of false report of a bomb, multiple counts of unlawful use of two way communication devices, multiple counts of misuse of 911 and six counts of disruption of school functions.

Deputies say that the student has admitted to calling in the six bomb threats.

HCSO says that none of the threats seemed to put the students in any real danger.

"Everything we found so far was 100% hoax," said Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis in a press conference on Friday. "We didn't find anything at all that was a fake bomb better yet a real one."

Sheriff Nienhuis says they are trying to have the student charged as an adult, because she is almost 18.

When I was in HS we had phony bomb threats during mid terms and finals. Even though this was a hoax,WE MUST DO SOMETHING TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!! Maybe pressure should be brought to bear on Home Depot, Lowes, etc to refuse to sell fertilizer and metal piping to anyone under 21? Seriously, this dopey kid thought it was all sh!ts and giggles, now she may be facing felony charges. She really started off her life on the right foot didn't she?

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try, try again.

“I think students don’t always think about the consequences of their actions,” said Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis.

But they can tell us what to do about our guns?

“When I was in HS we had phony bomb threats during mid terms and finals.”

Yes, but it was a different time, and the most disturbing thing at this point is that many of our children, with their whole lives ahead of them, who should be filled with hope and wonder, are become cynical and not hopeful about their futures and the world. There’s a very fundamental problem, and we need to address it.

17 y/o is old enough to know better unless she has some mental issues. If she does, someone needs to keep phones away from her if unsupervised.

"I think students don't always think about the consequences of their actions," said Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis...

About five years in a prison cell should fix that, Al.

I’d bring the kid out....give her 3,000 sand-bags and let her just start filling them. At the conclusion, I’d let her know that the next time she misbehaves in any sort of way...we go to a 5,000 sand-bag situation. I’m pretty sure my method would be more cost-effective and get the point across.

further evidence that the current school system culture is corrupted with a sickness. I dread when it spreads into the everyday workplace.

the idiotic social experimentation and degredation of morals perpetrated by Acedmia has reached critical mass.

the rod has been spared and the child is spoiled, welcome to a hellish brave New World filled with useful idiots produced by a public school system

Bomb threats are so passé. Did she not get the memo that shooter threats are the in thing now?

Central High School and Endeavor Academy

A tip. If you see the word ‘academy’ in a public school’s name, it is likely not a place where young scholars are pursuing a classical education. It is more likely what used to be called an ‘alternative’ school. The idea is that if you give the school a fancy-sounding name, the negative connotations of its student body will disappear. They don’t.

Bring back community service chain gangs. Six months and six miles of picking up trash along the highway (community service) should change her attitude (and maybe those of her parents).

Soon the community will have a pristine six mile area of highway they can be proud to call home. Plus, It’ll be a great opportunity for her to develop new skills (trash handling/disposal and wind direction/speed estimation) while her debt to society is being paid.

This experience will be a great teacher if she is willing to listen and learn. When the time comes to find a real job or purpose in life, she can reflect on her skills and experience acquired while serving as a community chain gang grunt.

Who knows, maybe someone, somewhere, will hire her. If based on her prior communication skills (telephone bomb terrorist), I don’t think so. But, she can understand the need to change her attitude and goals if she is to become a productive member of our society. (Does not apply if she is a 9 or 10).

If she decides to become an activist, she can get student loans (tax payer financed) to attend the finer institutions of higher learning to become better educated. Maybe she will use her chain gang experience to enroll in trash handling and wind estimation courses and eventually earn a degree in political science.

And the productive members of society will elect her to be their representative in government. /s

Public schools are a kid’s introduction to weird institutional bureaucracy and managerial pseudoscience. It’s no wonder they’re cauldrons of destruction.
