Republican Sens. Bob Corker and Rand Paul made good on their promise to vote down the bill. They were joined, predictably, by fiscal conservatives Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Ben Sasse, Tom Cotton and Jeff Flake.
Sen. Chuck Grassley also voted down the measure, as did Louisiana Republicans senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy.

I also think we need a balanced budget amendment and mandatory time to read everything. I have often heard most reforms are frowned upon by politicians because they say it makes government run slow/accomplishing less. I say, at this point, who cares and I highly doubt it anyway.
I think you do not understand what the GOP actually stands for. Look at what people DO, not what they say, to know what they stand for. The GOP is not what we wish it would be.

OH YES IT IS! It is exactly what “we” voted for. Every last one of those “pustules” was voted into their chairs by Republican Voters. The GOP is exactly what it is today thanks to the “collective us!”

So who’s going to beat him in 2020 on th R side, Kasich? Rubio (who voted for this bill, btw). Give me a break. As long as he wants to run (and I don’t know why he would when the likes of you give up on him the first time he doesn’t do exactly what you want) he will win, again.
Rand Paul might, and he’d make a pretty compelling case. He’s not exactly one to stick to the conventional way of doing things, you may have noticed. So, he might well mount a primary challenge.
I haven’t given up on Trump. I’m just saying that if he has many more days like this, he’ll face a serious primary challenger. It’s not a threat (as if this were something I could even control anyway) but just an acknowledgement of reality.

If your worn-out “This time it’s really the end of Trump” scenario does play out, we are far more likely to get a McConnelesque candidate, who will happily throw the election to the RAT, just like McCain and McRomney did.
