It’s pretty clear he just lost the string on this with everything else going on, thought he was going up get something decent but didn’t realize they were serving up a turd sandwich. He should have known better - all they serve up are turd sandwiches.
So, now he’s angry tweeting to try and make us feel better. The filibuster won’t end until the Democrats control the WH and Congress but are short some Senate votes for cloture on a big ticket item like a gun grab, amnesty or energy taxes. Just pathetic.

(I do not know what bill clinton and loretta talked about that day in AZ, but from the stuff coming out now, I’d bet there was a kind of a promise involved.... I don’t think bill wasted his time making small talk, with what was hanging in the balance out there for them....)
Yep, I put most all the blame on Ryan and McConnell. If we had the low down on those negotiations with Chuck and Nancy, I'm confident we'd learn that all those parts of the bill that prevent Trump from making any real progress on the wall were initiated just as much by Ryan and McConnell as by Chuck and Nancy. It was a Uniparty team effort.
Trump could have used a veto to point out all the bad parts of the bill to his supporters and others, but that chance was passed up. Not sure where he goes from here to try and restart the issues that won the election for him.
Maybe it's a battle none of knew he was fighting. There's so much going on that we don't know about. Hopefully his family is not at risk.
The swamp creatures used the military funding as hostage. They knew Trump couldn’t veto misspending. We need the money to prepare for the next round with China and Russia. He lost a major battle but not the war. I am sure He has lost business and law battles and law before. He will come out and make up for this. This is Trumps to lose.

POTUS signed the bill therefore POTUS owns it. Two things in the future will determine his 2020 election 1. If he supports Ryan’s election 2. If he doesn’t apply pressure to Mitch. If both are true then goodbye 2nd term.

A simple Veto would put things in motion to at least step back, reconsider, contemplate and revise. I cannot fathom Trump Inc. would run a budget that is this sick and irresponsible. I don’t want to be smart a** but it is not like America can declare bankruptcy and start fresh. Putting the debt forward will always mean that the corporation will die eventually.
I would like to sit down with McConnell and try to understand his calculus. Clearly, he doesn’t believe in shutdowns - got it.
Suppose, best case scenario, the GOP makes significant gains in the Senate. Unless he has 60 votes, he might as well have 0 as far as passing legislation since if Democrats have 41 everything gets blocked.
Or, does he think that if their blue wave fizzles, a few will defect on some things? Or does he think he can get 51 to end the filibuster? If he doesn’t want to end it, does he think that the Democrats won’t once the tables are turned? Reid did it once for judicial appointments. They would probably do it again for big legislation, if necessary.
