GOP chairman: No waste in $1.3 trillion spending bill
The Washington Times ^ | March 22, 2018 | Stephen Dinan

House Republicans’ spending chief told his colleagues Wednesday that there is no waste in the $1.3 trillion spending bill lawmakers are rushing through Congress this week.

“We’ve worked to make sure not a dollar is wasted,” Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, New Jersey Republican, said as he defended the massive bill before the House Rules Committee, pushing back against bipartisan frustration from lawmakers who said they couldn’t stomach voting on a 2,232-page bill with less than 24 hours’ time to read it.

But no less than President Trump disagreed with him, taking to Twitter to say he “had to waste money on Dem giveaways” in the bill in order to get his own military spending increases.

It all depends on what the meaning of the word waste is, is.

It's just government-issued printed money. They can waste as much of it as they want. Sure, we could be paying $20 soon for a loaf of bread and a trillion dollars in interest on the debt, but you know, that's life. We just need to get used to it.

One might surmise his pockets will be well lined for all the deep pocket donors he didn’t waste money on.

For a box of Dunkin’ Donuts I’d be glad to show them how to cut at least 25% of that budget in no time at all.

Give me a little longer and i’ll make it 33%.

Now you know why there’s little enthusiasm for Republicans.

“We’ve worked to make sure not a dollar is wasted,” Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, New Jersey Republican...

Did he say that with a straight face?

Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot than open it and remove all doubt.

Trump is telling the truth about this monstrous bill BUT the reality is that is we want the military funded, we have to put up with appeasing Dims because there has to be 60 votes to get this to the president's desk.

I say fund it, and then after this if it takes shutting down the government to get things under control, take the risk and do it.

We all know Republicans will be blamed for shutting down the government but so be it, at least we've funded the military.

Great and then what do you want to deal with the reality of this? Dims are more than happy to shut down the government because they know Reps will be blamed. What are the risks? How do we end up getting anything better in the end? What will happen to the military?

So they have gotten rid of waste and spending goes up significantly. Wonder what spending will look like after they go after fraud and abuse.

This idea may have some merit but as it is, we have the government we want.

Specifically, what do you want them to do and do not be vague, like they need to grow a spine. Lay this out step by step what you think can realistically result in better results for the country.

I don't have a plan and I admit it. is it worth it to not fund the military and shut down the government? I don't know.

FoxNews has just said that it passed, that Freedom Caucus is suggesting POTUS Veto and that POTUS is planning on signing it.
