I can’t imagine that the national Democrat party would want this. Democrats have 55 automatic electoral votes from California.
If California was no longer part of the US, Trump would have won the election by comfortable margins, in both popular and electoral votes.
I find it hard to believe that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi and company, would want to see California leave the union.
Socialism is a gangrenous infection that spreads over borders. If CA goes the way of Venezuela, eventually it spread to OR and WA, and then go east from there.
They will run out of money and fall into a deep societal pit, but they will not learn from it.
If you could put up a wall and allow no people or resources to cross into CA, then we could let it go. But we cannot insulate them from the rest of the country.
I am leaving California in two days. I can’t wait to get out.
Start throwing CA politicians in jail, dry up Federal funding for social services, and crack down on all illegal immigrants (I don't give a damn how old they were when their parents brought them here illegally).

Every state is sovereign and never agreed when they ratified the constitution to bind themselves forever. In fact three states including the then two largest and most powerful ones, New York and Virginia, expressly reserved the right to unilaterally secede. Nobody at the time even claimed that this rendered their ratification of the constitution thereby defective. Under the comity principle, every state understood itself to have the right to unilateral secession.
The union is voluntary. Government derives its legitimacy from the consent of the governed.
If California wishes to leave, let them go.
Split the state. Let the right side stay as California and dump the western half in the ocean. They can pay for their own catastrophes too!
They have to pay us for their part of the national debt and all the land, and then the borders are CLOSED.

Why don’t we try enforcing election laws so that only citizens can vote in California? As it stands we are allowing the Communists to disenfranchise California’s legitimate electorate by flooding the state with illegal alien voters.
One of George Soro’s fondest dreams is to destroy this Republic by having California secede. (I’m astonished by how many people on this board want to help him!)
By the way, California with all of it’s resources won’t become part of Mexico. China and the U.N. will seize control of it within minutes of any secession.
California will become a US possession the moment it trys to secede. That means they loose all voting privileges in the US legislature.
Federal military ports and bases in the state will not be given away or abandon.
This is a fight that California liberals are going to lose.

How do you think that CA was taken over by Commies? They came probably from your state ( if you live in the Northeast). As for Oregon and Washington, it’s the same story there. The liberal trash from the Northeast, after $hitting in their nests where they were born, headed West, bypassing “flyover country” and showing up on the shores of the Pacific. Then you add in the Asian Marxists that floated in from Japan, China and other Far East $hit holes, and you arrive at where we are today.
As for running out of money here, it can’t happen soon enough to suit me. The fact that now “Californians” are moving back to the Midwest is just more of the same impetus that caused them to come to CA in the first place. They’ve managed to $hit up their nests here, so with their teepee’s full of $hit, they’re on the road again, maybe to settle near you.

It wouldn’t “destroy” the union. It would simply have been smaller. The original 7 seceding states not even the states of the Upper South which seceded after Lincoln chose war ever proposed to interfere in what kind of relationship Wisconsin wished to have with Vermont or any of the other states which remained in.
If anything, letting the original 7 go in peace would have sent a clear message that the federal govt dare not grow too oppressive lest other states choose to leave. Additionally it would have meant the rapid collapse of slavery in the seceding states (and maybe even the states which still had it that remained in?) since all a slave would have had to do to gain his freedom would have been to cross the 1500 mile border. States that were no longer part of the US would not have been covered by the fugitive slave clause in the US constitution since they were no longer part of the US. Lincoln himself pointed this out repeatedly and nobody could dispute it.
