We are definitely there in terms of the affirmative action debate; it fails everyone - and leaves the alleged beneficiaries blaming racism rather than their own hollow credentials for their economic failures. To award degrees then have tokens consistently fail standardized professional tests (bar exam, for example) exposes these programs as a lie.
I read an article by Thomas Sowell a few years ago that specifically addressed that issue.........

A nephew of mine graduated from Penn State. Kid’s a total socialist. A “Bernie Bot’’.
Penn State and U. Penn are different schools.
Thomas Sowell wrote a great deal on the subject of “academic mismatch.” In addition, the removal of race-based admissions from the University of California system showed that the number of black and hispanic graduates increased significantly when they attended universities for which they were objectively qualified.
Well then, this Sowell fellow won’t get a job at Penn. He shouldn’t be asserting his white privilege like that.

I read something like that too. As I recall, he said that elite schools were admitting blacks who had SAT scores in the 80th percentile. These are good students but put at a severe disadvantage because elite schools are mostly comprised of students scoring 95th percentile and above. Basically they are turning good students into losers because they can't compete with their peers. These students often don't get a degree but the schools go on admitting them and setting them up for failure.
I’ve always said that Obama was a product of affirmative action in college. It was easier for the professors and the universities to pass him despite failing grades and likely skipped classes rather than flunk him out and have to replace him with another minority in order to maintain minority quotas......
The passive-aggressive cruelness of white liberals is off the charts. If I were an academic that would be my avenue of approach not wading off into the weeds making blanket statements about any protected class.

Well, here’s your chance to accommodate Wax, ya moron, and thus prove you accommodate EVERYONE.
Mark Levin had Thomas Sowell on his talk show the other night and talked about affirmative action. He said he was a little lazy in grad school and upped his game after a white roommate warned him to start working harder. The bottom line is that would be unthinkable today and the white roommate would probably be charged with a hate crime.
I hope someone on the forum will explain exactly what is happening. Are the affirmative action students unable to go to class? Are they unable to understand the vocabulary of the lectures and textbooks? Are they not permitted to take a lighter course load so as to spend more time working the material? In what ways does the phrase “cannot compete with their peers” apply, since students who pass a course do not cause others to fail it? If they drop out, should we not know all the real reasons for that?
If a minority student drops out of an ivy league school because:
-those elitist blue bloods are disgusting people and he is sick of them, or
-he is not really learning anything and the $$ is wasted, or
-he does not want to actually put in any work to learn anything, or
-he figures out that the ivy league is a closed club and he is not ever going to be ushered into the real inner circle because affirmative action does not work outside of liberal democrat institutions, then
We have nothing to discuss.
The assumption behind this discussion is that the affirmative action students are being thrown into frosh Calculus without ever having passed HS Geometry or Algebra I. I would be very grateful if someone who went to one of these places would explain what is really going on.
