Dainty, ain't he..?
ALL reports are focusing ONLY on the tech, not the whacko felon.
I'd take one look at that thing and simply not get into the car.
This is the first I heard about this! Yowza.
Incorrect. Plenty of focus is on him. Just as plenty of focus is on the woman who jaywalked her bicycle in front of a moving car.
I still place the majority of blame on her. Not Uber. Nor that freak whatever it is.
I am more than willing to bet the person trusted the vehicle to handle itself when he should have been watching the road.
“illegal felon TRANNY who was supervising (not driving, really) the car:”
and a meth head running in front of the car.
Uber is going to have to update their software for such scenarios. lol
He was along for the ride
I know he is a convicted felon. Is he an illegal too?
Good grief. No way I’d get into a car with that thing.
I was wondering where they got the space alien in the car.
Because that's what the story is about. It's not about a random vehicle/pedestrian accident. It's about a self-driving car.
If the incident involved a conventional vehicle, this story would not have lasted beyond a single news cycle in the local media.
The tech is EXACTLY why this is a big issue.
The pedestrian wasn't paying attention, that is clear. The "safety driver" wasn't doing "his" job, even though it might have been impossible for "him" to change the outcome given the circumstances. But those are peripheral issues.
The simple fact is that the technology failed when a fairly common issue arose that every human driver is aware of and occasionally must deal with.
