A Broward County Sheriff's deputy has been suspended with pay after authorities say he was found sleeping in his car Monday while on duty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were killed in a mass shooting last month.
According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, a Stoneman Douglas student approached a sergeant who was patrolling the interior of the school and said that Deputy Moises Carotti was asleep in his patrol car just after 5 p.m.

The Sherriff is an elected position, but the Gov. or the county should find a way to remove him and take over the management of the office.
I was once hauled on the carpet for firing the son of the NAACP prez who was sleeping in the janitor’s closet. Found out real fast that is not to be done. We can safely assume this deputy is not black.

Sound like the kids at the school would do a better job of patrolling the school.

The way their officers responded to the shooting proves that it really doesn’t make a difference if they’re awake or asleep.
What a punishment! Now he can sleep in his own bed, with full pay, rather than in the hall.

After ‘reading’ that line to the point my eyes ache, either the car was parked in the hallway with the Deputy in it OR a SGT was patrolling the hallway and the student(?) (HE IS NOT A SURVIVOR OF THE SHOOTING?) told the SGT.

He was promoted.
Double protection. One of them was his dad being a higher up and the other should be easy to deduce.
There was a shooting in Southern MD yesterday and one of the ‘clips’ the radio played was a KID being interviewed by CNN DURING the ‘lockdown’..
Publicize one and ALL want the glory.
IMNSHO, this was probably an isolated incident as the ‘shooter’ had apparently been involved with the girl and the guy may have been collateral damage or WITH the girl.
The ‘School Securities Officer’(title?) shot him but as of yesterday wasn’t clear if the kid offed himself or the SSO ‘did it’.
In reference to the point of WANTING some security inside the doors of the schools, it was pointed out that the SSO probably prevented carnage.(Remains to be seen and will probably never been know but the kid only had ONE pistol and my ‘mind’ tells me it was a one on one)
HOWEVER, when did ‘WE’ start praising people for doing their job.
When the shooting at the ball field occurred the POLICE(LEO) on scene were touted as HEROES.. I don’t think standing up to or taking down someone who is threatening to ‘harm’ the people you are ‘charged with protecting’ comes under the HERO title...UNLESS one is implying rather than ran for cover like ALL those WITHOUT weapons, the ARMED LEO stood his ground and fired.
Military ‘solved’ that by figuring as long as in COMBAT one ‘deserves’ a Bronze Star BUT for over the top bravery etc they awarded for Valor to set them apart.
Like they say “IF ALL STUDENTS ARE ‘A’ STUDENTS, it takes away from those that REALLY deserve it—BUT makes the true ‘C’ student feel better”

Broward County Sheriff’s Department has problems that go back for years. It stated with the boat lift when unqualified cops were hired in a hurry to deal with the flood of criminals coming from Cuba’s Mariel prisons.
