One day after Orange County supervisors voted to spend more than $70 million to house the homeless, residents in three prosperous cities expressed alarm about a proposal to set up "camp" shelters in their communities.

Besides creating permanent housing, the officials' plans call for possible camps in Irvine, Laguna Niguel and Huntington Beach on county-owned land. The Irvine City Council voted unanimously late Tuesday to sue the county to stop the proposal.

I say we ask that the homeless be moved to Bel Air/Beverly Hills/Brentwood! They are the ones with the money to provide all services to the ‘have-nots’. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

You’re Sanctuary State so that means illegal or homeless get housed in your back yard. The State requires it, Comrade.

Tell it to Broome County in Upstate NY. NYC is paying their homeless to move to Broome County, which is very liberal. Except when NYC ships their homeless there.

Otherwise known as "poorhouses". Are we going to require them to work on government assigned projects?

Are we going to require dysfunctional welfare recipients to live in poorhouses also?

Pelosi and Schumer outright told them illegal aliens are the #1 priority of the Democrat Party. When they vote democrat, their real estate taxes will escalate as the value of their homes depreciate. No pity party forthcoming for them.

Once they disarm us, the individual homeowner will be forced to house them in violation of the Constitution.

Make them congresscritters. Assign them as Hellary’s social secretaries or diaper changers.

LOL, yeah, when you still owe a 1.8 million on the mortgage to your 2000 square foot house and the government threatens to send your property value into the toilet - I imagine that does get one’s attention.

Ultra-liberal Mountain View, California has many permanent RVs parked on major thoroughfares with people living in them. They are literally on Google’s doorstep.

People are starting to speak out against them! I’m shocked. Why don’t they invite them to park on their tony cul-de-sacs and let them use their own driveways? It’s a mystery where liberal compassion disappears to when the bums appear.

There are solutions. What worked in 1933 would work today if the nation had the guts to demand it. Instead we tolerate the year after year degradation and coarsening of our civic life in the name of "compassion." We tolerate a percent of us who make the public square so filthy that nobody wants to go into it (see SF).

In the 30s, if you didn't work, you got very hungry. Government make-work jobs did a lot of good. People learned skills, learned to stay sober, got strong, built enduring public works, developed a work ethic. That was FAR better than giving people free money.
