Not “President Trump”. In 2006, it was “private citizen and television celebrity Trump”. That’s an important distinction. Without a true public confession, it seems obvious that Trump “found religion” sometime in the past few years and acknowledges things happened before that which he is not proud of. George W. Bush said the same thing about his life before politics.
I would say the same thing if Trump were a Democrat (which he probably was at the time). If he’s willing and able to bed a porn star, that’s their business and a lot of men in both parties wouldn’t pass up the chance if they thought they could get away with it.
