I had to look it up because I would have called it New England but apparently, although it is one of the original 13, it’s not technically ‘new england’. Here in Missouri, I’d say many of us would call that New England. One of all them yankee states up in thar.

I wouldn’t say Maryland wasn’t exactly neutral but had no choice. They were occupied. Was told during tours of Gettysburg that the state was made up of mainly southern sympathizers. Lincoln only got less than 3% of the vote.

Jeb Stuart hung out in Rockville for a few days on his way to Gettysburg, getting there late and it’s argued that it was his fault the confederates lost the battle.

Read one account the students of a female academy in Rockville also delayed him a bit! Who knows.
