If this is true, I don’t believe their reasons.
The millennials will discover what self-fulfilling prophecies are. By expecting capitalism to go away, when they are wielding the levers of power, it surely will.
I heard the same thing from my friends, why save. Now they are still working - and give me crap about it.
On getting there in my 40’s a couple good moves made the difference.
Like you, we are debt free.
Most of them wouldn’t know capitalism or socialism if they bit them on the butt.
Many of them don’t save because they couldn’t get a decent job under the Obola economy and so were working at Starbucks - they have nothing to save. When they do get an actual full time job they will need to start paying their student loans off on top of normal life expenses so they won’t have anything to save (or put in a 401k) for a long time.
Obola’s easy college money has literally empoverished the next generation.
I believe we are about to witness the prophetic events Jesus talked about in Luke.
A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’ And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’Luke 14:16-24.
All before the bolded part has already happened (mainly the Jews who were called but refused the Lord Jesus). This is a feast - the Marriage Supper of the Lamb - which is almost ready for us upon Jesus return for his saints. But God in his great mercy and grace wants one last sweep of souls around the earth before he takes his saints and it all comes crashing down. I think it will take a few decades to accomplish this. It might be a New Spiritual Awakening triggered by the Grace Revolution in the Body of Christ.
Another reason I think it will be a few decades is God has told me I'm going to live probably another 50 years or so and he has also indicated to me I will go to Heaven ahead of Jesus coming back for his saints.
So we're in this thing to be lights of the world to the glory of God. This is an exciting time to be alive. We'll be in heaven forever, but here is where we can gain some special rewards in heaven by following Jesus during this amazing time.
