I suspect that the “self-driving vehicle” will say “I’m not going out in this,” which is what the idiots we see on the news sliding into each other on the icy roadways.

Hypothetical scenario: I drive to work and while there it snows - what are my options now? Drive home? Stay at work? Go to local hotel? Seriously.

How about you switch the car over to “manual mode” and see if you have enough skill to get home. But you raise an interesting point. If, as some have postulated, liability insurance will go away and the vehicles will be insured under the manufacturer’s product liability insurance, the car will be undoubtedly “programmed” not to take chances, since the “deep pockets” in any accident will be the manufacturer. Kinda like what the Libs want to do with guns.
