I’ve driven enough mountain roads to know that black ice is an unseen. Yes tapping is an indicator. But as I said only if you are solo on the road
There can be others on the road but its a bad idea to tailgate them if you expect ice.
And driving up and down curved mountain roads in ice is looking for trouble too.
I typically try to pass cars that are going too slow for me so they are not in front of me.
