Way back when we had the Boston Strangler they were advising women who lived alone to NEVER open their doors to anyone unexpected.
Later there was an article in the paper quoting some telephone men and electric workers being astonished that many women still opened their doors even they the man was not expected.
All the alerts in the world are ignored by some.
