Scientific American is pulling an old trick here. I guess some white men have guns because they are “beset by racial fears”. But 99.9% of them have guns for either a sporting use or to protect their families.
Yet Scientific American lists “beset by racial fears” as a co-equal with the other reasons. And the sporting use isn’t even mentioned.
It would be like listing “drug-running” as one reason white men buy trucks. Because some white guy was once caught with a kilo of marijuana hidden in the back of his truck.
That probably includes police officers who are on patrol in certain inner city neighborhoods in places like Chicago, East St. Louis, Detroit, and New Orleans. Are their fears illogical?
If so, why does their police department issue them weapons?
