Nolte: Disgraced Media Already Hit with Massive Layoffs in 2018
breitbart ^ | 16 Mar 2018 | JOHN NOLTE```

Posted on 03/17/2018 3:38:05 PM PDT by MarvinStinson

When President Trump’s presidency is over, one of the biggest pieces of fake news we will look back on is when we were told by the media that Trump was good for the media business. The truth is that business for the media is horrible.

The Denver Post announced that between April 9 and July 1, 30 jobs will be cut from its newsroom--a massive 30 percent cut of its current staff of 100 journalists. Just 10 years ago the Denver Post employed 600 journalists--close to a 90 percent reduction in only a decade.

Layoffs hit the Chicago Tribune. Fourteen newsroom staffers were let go in a second round of layoffs in less than six months as the newspaper prepares to leave Tribune Tower for smaller space at Prudential Plaza.

The San Jose Mercury News was hit with another round of terminations, as many as 27 staffers were either laid off or bought out.

The East Bay Times wiped out a quarter of its editorial staff through layoffs and buy outs — a total of 28 staffers.

We also learned in January that a total of five publications owned by Southern California News Group will face “significant layoffs.”

To protect Barack Obama’s anemic economic “recovery,” our media tried to convince us that unemployment in the Obama era, was really “funemployment.” When the working class, those our elitist media despise, lose their jobs to illegal immigrants, unfair trade deals, and oppressive and unnecessary environmental regulations, the media have dismissively suggested that they all catch up with the times and learn computer code.

So let me be the first to wish all of these “journalists” a Happy Funemployment and wish them luck all the luck in the world with their new careers as computer coders.

How funny. Amid all of the good economic news recently, there are hard time in the media.

Gee, some in the media may have to get an honest job, a real job. A job where they are doing something productive and useful, as opposed to harping about how terrible the Trump presidency is............

I just can’t believe the American people are so ungrateful for all the media has done for us!

Journalism died on January 20, 2009. What we are seeing now are the corpses rotting.

This has nothing to do with Trump. These papers have been going out of business for a long while and have only lasted because rich owners have been shielding them from the chopping block. The NYT is being saved by Carlos Slim while the Washington Post is being saved by Bezos. These are not viable business. These are propaganda arms of the very rich. Even CNN, MSNBCC and FOX have fewer viewers. But they do have a bigger share of a decreasing cable audience.

One thing I would note. In the past FOX had about two thirds of the night time audience of the three big political news channels. But now MSNBC is generally equal to or higher than FOX. So Trump has not been good for FOX. Or the loss of Bill O’Reilly has not been good for FOX.

While it was definitely DOA on the date you listed, I suspect it was dead long before that.

It’s a real shame that the fake news buiness is not paying off like it used to.

Winning!

...remember when Batchit Pelosi told unemployed people to take up violin playing if they couldn’t find work?
*smiles*....
The media is getting what it deserves, a slow dying death, for it’s part in trying to destroy the US....

The fake news liberal media have committed political and commercial suicide by means of their delusional belief of self-importance. No self-respecting patriotic American gives a rat’s ass about what these propagandizing, America-hating, Manhattan marionettes have to say about anything.

Please keep it up, and be quick about it! Oblivion is an impatient mistress.

Winning yes! Would it be inappropriate to throw a high-profile party in D.C. when a major news organization goes bankrupt or closes down? Laugh at the newly unemployed? It may be harsh but those unemployed are smart enough to find other endeavors.

In deed, and in fact; the Denver Post is the American version of Pravda. In many ways, the American news media is the propaganda arm of the Democrat Political Party.

It died when it collectively decided it would never let another Reagan happen.

Knowing the demeanor of the J-school students we knew when my wife was there back in the 90's, I'd be looking for a way to rub it in.

They'll have lots of fun working in Pakistan for $1.10 an hour.

I agree, and Fox cut its own throat. Now they’ve signed mascara boy to a new contract. I stopped watching quite a few years ago.

FOX has not been good for FOX. Had they given Shepard Smith a "come-to-Jesus" moment about his hysterics, given Megyn Kelly an intervention in relation to her Trumpophobia, and not caved to the prog mob about any number of things, they'd be more watchable. No, Rupert and his kids didn't want FOX to be quite that associated with we icky people anymore.

As for newspapers, I would love to have a newspaper that wasn't a Democrat house organ or a glorified local shopper's special. They left me, I didn't leave them.

I, for one, would be really happy to see Brian Stelter wearing a hair net and holding a stainless steel serving spoon.
