The school’s zero-tolerance policy says that students cannot be in possession of weapons at any time, whether on or off campus.

It not challenged, the school's next move would have been to announce that language includes weapons that were present at the student's principal residence. Somebody needs to be dealt with effectively...

These public school employees really think they can make up whatever rules they want, even if they tread on the civil rights of the students. Just who do they think they are? They’re paid by the tax payer. They don’t own the kids.

I’m coming to the conclusion that the only thing government should have the power to do is provide oversight to private institutions and not be involved in any execution. Enable the competitive private sector in everything, the government employee only makes sure they’re abiding by the law and are competing fairly.

By the school’s definition, my son with his Scout troop at a shooting day per the NRA safe training program is a violation of school policies.
Though the fact he was learning how to shoot under supervision of NRA trained staff, his father, and probably a few off-duty cops is irrelevant.
