The Parkland shooting last month has energized student activists, who are angry and frustrated over gun violence. But it's also contributed to the impression that school shootings are a growing epidemic in America.
In truth, they're not.
"Schools are safer today than they had been in previous decades," says James Alan Fox, a professor of criminology at Northeastern University who has studied the phenomenon of mass murder since the 1980s.
Fox and doctoral student Emma Fridel crunched the numbers, and the results should come as a relief to parents.

Cause they know it’s safe to print as the frenzy won’t abate because of a single NPR article.
Now they can seem “fair”.
It’s my view that this latest shooting got so much publicity simply because Trump is president and they wanted to pin it on him, Republicans, and the NRA. There were shootings as bad or worse when Clinton (Columbine) and Obama (Sandy Hook)were president, but there wasn’t 1/100th of an outcry, there were not mass marches and mass student walkouts.

They’re missing the point It’s not guns or the NRA It’s policies which had cops standing outside while killing was going on or some nut getting a gun the FBI knew he wasn’t suppose to... Plus a whole raft of other stuff

It truly is hell to be a rational person, capable of critical thinking, in the modern world.
Valid point, but nonetheless incredible that they would even allow themselves to go there. Especially when truth is the enemy of the leftist activists who are pressing their narrative in a full court mode.

Arm teachers like in Israel, simple.
They should move to Chicago. They would be a lot more afraid sitting in their own house, let alone going outside.

I couldn’t agree more!! Typical of how the left mischaracterizes Trump’s proposal to “arm teachers,” they seem to claim that unarmed leftist teachers will be forced to carry. In fact, just ALLOW the ones who WANT to carry to do so. Enough with the gun-free-zone BS!!! Pure madness.
If arming a teacher saves just one life, wouldn’t that be enough reason?!?!? Harden the target! Lock the doors at least!!
