The one thing I’ll say about audio books, is that if you are driving a long distance, it really cuts down on the feeling that the drive will never end.
The stories are enjoyable, and you remain engrossed in the plot and not the miles you’ve driven and still have to drive.
I highly recommend them for this purpose.
I listened to them when I had a long commute.
I have a lot of history courses and similar from The Teaching Company on CD that we take on our long trips to see grandkids. About every third lecture I refer to the outline to make sure I am. Isualizing place names and people correctly.
Yep, I did one of the games of Thrones books on a round trip from Boston to Chicago.
I do audiobooks on long solo drives. Never any other times though.
We did that when the kids were smaller - lots of tales entertaining for both the kids and the adults!
I was out at a site last summer. One of the engineers was walking around recording GPS data and monitoring instruments. I could hear something else - and asked them what sort of device that was.
“Oh - it’s an audiobook.”
I thought that was a bit odd to be working and listening to a book at the same time. But they were my client, so....
