McCain is too ill to be in the Senate chamber but is still seated. How does that work? How are you unable to show up for work, day after day, but still keep your job?

Can he stay home for years? There should be laws regarding mental and physical ability to perform one’s job. I do recall at least one case where a dead person won the election. Seems if one is dead, one is automatically eliminated and the opponent wins.
