EDISON - Gov. Phil Murphy has pledged to make New Jersey’s community colleges tuition-free by 2021.

Murphy, in his budget address, said that $50 million of the state’s 2019 budget will go toward tuition support for low-income students. He said that tuition-free colleges will be paid for through an increase in the state sales tax and the creation of a millionaire’s tax.

College students in the United States have nearly $1.5 trillion in student loan debt, according to Student Debt Hero. Some high school students tell News 12 New Jersey that student loan debt is something that they worry about as they continue their education careers.

“Gov. Phil Murphy has pledged to make New Jersey’s community colleges tuition-free by 2021.”

Maybe Murphy can succeed, where other Liberals in Jersey have failed, and finally run the state out of other people’s money!

So how long is this for? Can folks keep on this gravy train for years without graduating? Will they be taking bogus classes in race and gender studies?

Welders and waitresses will pay higher taxes so other people can go to college. Nothing is free; it just means somebody else pays for it.

"...tax on millionaires..."

That is the thing about millionaires...they can and do move if they are being ripped-off. They have the wherewithal to not have to endure it.
With modern telecommuting one could move everything to Delaware, Pennsylvania, or wherever...and rent a one-bedroom apartment to visit.

CC is a cheap education, a person can easily work their way through school. Most of those who take out grants and loans do so to cheat the system. They start school, then spend the money with no intention of graduation. The government paying for CC, will cause 10-20% increases in tuition within a short time.

NJ has been a “vast wasteland” for years, but it has plenty of company in this “union” of states.

Community colleges - Doing the job high schools used to do.

I'd say they are doing the job elementary schools used to do. I once found a backpack belonging to a community college student, and looked in it to try to find the owner so that it could be returned. I found an essay assignment "What is your favorite holiday, and why?" The owner of the backpack had written something like, "My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. We go to my auntie's house and eat lots of good food. My favorite is her stuffing. It's really good. So that is why I love Thanksgiving."

No joke.

And, once he got it back and submitted it, he probably got an A.

WTH does Tuition for Community College cost, more than an iPhone?

Heck, lets give them iPhones and iPads while we’re at it.

Do People WORK and SAVE their Money for anything anymore?

My Father had it right about 50 Years ago when he told his whining Teenage Son (that would be me) “nobody owes you a living, so shut up and get back to work”.

And the degrees they issue will be worth every cent of tuition the students pay for them.

The taxpayers, on the other hand.....

No, don't impeach Murphy.

New Jerseyans voted for him fair and square; now they're going to get the government they deserve.

And more money for pre-K too - they can’t teach the kids anything in the twelve years they have now, so we’ll just add more of the same useless fluff and pretend we’ll get better outcomes - the teachers’ union put big money and effort into getting Murphy elected, and they’re getting paid back bigtime......

I have a 4th grade reader book from 1911. It is today’s college level reading. I always put it out on the coffee table when liberals are visiting. The reaction is priceless.
