LARRY TRIBE: A SAD CASE I knew Larry Tribe decades ago, when he coached the Harvard debate team and I debated for Dartmouth. We had a friendly relationship then, and also later when I took a course from him at Harvard Law School. The Larry Tribe I knew was a smart and normal guy. Today, unfortunately, he has gone off the rails. One could say that he personifies the descent of much of the Democratic Party into madness.
Witness, for example, yesterdays tweet:
Laurence Tribe @tribelaw Not at all. It looks like Russia picked Tillerson to be a Putin puppet, then pushed Trump to fire Tillerson when he proved to be an unreliable puppet
When opposite facts point to the same conclusion, with a complete lack of evidence or logic in both instances, we are in the presence of irrational obsession. There are quite a few Democrats who, quite frankly, need to get help.

He’s just loyal to the leaders of his country of birth.
Tribe and Dershovitz are both very leftist politically, imho
but Dershovitz can and does sometimes come out for what’s honorable, just, right.....even when it is not the doctrinaire-commie-leftist thing to say. So, I have developed a respect for Dershovitz.
Tribe is brilliant but I haven’t noticed the same qualities (to be fair, perhaps I’ve overlooked some things Tribe has said or done, I don’t have time to follow eveyrone!!)
The comments are not to good for Larry
It defies the conventional understanding of disease processes but
there seems to be a new form of dementia with ideological correlations.
Larrys failure to become a Supreme Court Justice just messes him up.
He is?
I once looked into why the LSM proclaimed him "king of Constitutional Law" and it was because he was the last person to publish a text book on it.
That's a little better than Obama being a guest lecturer of CL, and the LSM proclaiming him a "professor".
“Tribe is brilliant”
Who says so? He’s wrong on every important issue. Where’s the evidence of brilliance?
Around 1991 when Larry “Lost” Tribe was fulminating in the crazed liberal aftermath of Desert Storm, he briefly came up for air and wrote a surprisingly earnest defense of the Second Amendment as recognizing the right to keep and bear arms, based on solid Constitutional grounds.
Then he got back into his spaceship.
Okay, but does one have to be brilliant to understand the Second Amendment?
Well....no. As noted, the Constitution is written in simple & clear English that ordinary folks can comprehend.
That’s only if they’re not blinded by lockstep liberalism. Tribe had his blind squirrel moment, and it passed into oblivion. He has lived in his faculty club cocoon ever since.
Prof. Tribe is many arrows short of a full quiver, just like Fauxchoantas is many genes short of being an Indian.
The Left today is producing incredibly insane people who rise to high positions of influence and power because Democrats/liberals/socialists are just plain damned stupid, and proud of it!
I’m surprised to hear that he even had a moment.
I was OUTCONUS during the first Gulf War. Probably why I missed it.
Larry has always been a far left commie
derschowitz is the REAL deal
A true liberal who believes in America as founded and FREE speech
Then he got back into his spaceship.
IIRC, his views on the 2nd Amendment were fairly balanced even before then, particularly given the incessant anti-gun yapping of the media during the Bush 41 - Clinton period. He believed that it absolutely applied to the people, as the people were intended to form the state militias (of differing levels of organization). He didn't believe, though, that the infringement prohibition could be used to block state and local gun restrictions. Sanford Levinson quoted some of Tribe's writings on the subject in his 1989 Yale Law Review piece, "The Embarrassing Second Amendment".
Class warfare against citizens owning guns began with the JFK assassination in 1963 when newly ascendant Lyndon Johnson denounced “mail order murder”. It used to be “you can keep your rifles and shotguns, we just want the handguns”.
Australia, anyone?
