From the picture I saw of her Birkenstock sandals, they were slides. The kind where only the front of the foot has straps and heels are free to slip all over the place.
Slides and flipflops are not good walking shoes. Do not know why someone with her bucks could not choose a pair of sandals or other shoes that fully support the foot.
