Lamb vs. Saccone Special Election PA18
NY Times ^ | March 13, 2018

A thread to discuss the results.

I feel like Lamb has a lot of momentum, has run as a moderate, and has run a better campaign. I'll predict he'll win tonight (although I'd like to see Saccone win).

NYT does a good job with election results.

Because ‘we’ - that is you and I don’t determine the election. The numbnutz in the district do.

Trailing now by 2,822 with 88 percent of precincts reporting. We are soon to run out of precincts.

He needs to win it by 3000 more than he has now and needs another 1000 from Washington, both relative to Lamb's vote count.

Yes. Westmoreland isn’t reporting by precinct so nobody can project if Saccone can make up enough votes.

Saccone down less than 2%.

Currently, 50.5 for Lamb and 48.9 for Saccone (87% of precincts).

Problem is that Lamb is more attractive than Saccone, he's young, tall, handsome, Marine vet, etc.

If Saccone pulls this out it will be a major upset actually. At least in my view.

After the redistricting he'll have zero chance in the new district.

An estimated 40,000 votes outstanding using NYTs original estimate of 225,000 total votes.

“This is no different than AL, yes they won, but the next regular election, we will win it back.”

Very true, but the Dems get a narrative to attract donors. That’s why they blow a ton of money on these things. They need wins. This would be as big as AL if they win this district. If they lose, they still get to tout how they wiped out a Trump +18 advantage or some other narrative.

Bottom line is that the RNC needs to get voters to turn out. If they’re not up for it, then Trump will have to do the heavy lifting.

You can make any race close if you throw piles of money at it + get your side to turn out heavily.
