However, there are hundreds of thousands (millions?) of us who are currently on our own and at an age where we can shrug, say "I've had a good life", followed by "Damn the consequences."

The author thinks that it will only take a few arrests and confiscations before the rest of the gun owners "learn their lesson" and acquiesce to the tyranny.
