U.S. loses bid to halt children's climate change lawsuit

A federal appeals court on Wednesday rejected the U.S. government's bid to halt a lawsuit by young people claiming that President Donald Trump and his administration are violating their constitutional rights by ignoring the harms caused by climate change.

By a 3-0 vote, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said the administration had not met the "high bar" under federal law to dismiss the Oregon lawsuit, which was originally brought in 2015 against the administration of President Barack Obama.

The potentially far-reaching case is one of a handful seeking to have courts address global warming and its causes.

They want Trump out however they can achieve it and can use kids and thumbing his nose at science especially for withdrawing from the Paris Accords.

I'm not much of a believer in any of this one way or the other, but one day last October I looked out my kitchen window and saw this so grabbed a few shots. Lately, I don't look much, the sky has been clear blue on nice days, no evidence of flights in sight. This would have been about due east-west parallel to the Mississippi River about one mile or less south which would be to the right in the photo. Much more strange many years ago, I saw five parallel and equidistant "smoky" uniform but much wider trails in the sky when I went out to run an errand just as it had gotten dark, due east-west again. Wish I'd gotten a photo of that but no camera at the time.

If you buy into chemtrails, there are lots of more interesting photos around which can be real or fake.

Or it's just for whatever. I definitely believe there is some geo-engineering or experimentation going on but not how much, by whom, etc., and don't follow it regularly.

But the followin lends weight to the government is doing it theory, get it out in the open :-). I got some because I used up all my shark stamps and running low on pet stamps. I'm saving my Batman stamps for my grandson who would stick them all over stuff.

Heard of a new book out recently Inconvenient Facts but found this which I found a shorter read and from a fairly credible source pub. July 2017.

That was my first thought, my good FRiend.

The left does whatever it can to stifle science (real science) in the global warming fright campaign.

Such a suit will give qualified scientists a newsy forum to present some easily convincing arguments that "climate change" is not sufficiently supported, thus the suit (and thus the progressive hysteria) are not based on worthy claims.

BTW, this post written by a (real) scientist.

Dr. Tim Ball just won his defamation case filed against him by the head of the Canadian Green Party. He is returning to court to finish the Michael Mann case.

Kids sueing the government for global warming? Sorry, unless you are able to pay taxes, you should shut up and learn something, not be indoctrinated!

It’s not that unusual. I once watched a Space Shuttle launch in Florida, and long after the launch (which was awesome) it had this twisty kind of vapor trails that widened out like that and then started to appear horizontal vice vertical, as the high, upper level winds and the Earth’s rotation moved them. In fact, they looked like that even after sunset, as the sun illuminated them after the ground was dark.

My understanding is that certain high upper atmosphere conditions can cause vapor trails to widen and flatten, much as your picture shows. They are caused by a mixture of ice crystals and liquid water.

Another day and with the weather conditions changed aloft just a little bit, and you would hardly see the vapor trails at all.

Both of these conditions can happen on what appears to be—from the ground—a bright, sunny day, but upper level temperatures can be drastically different sunny day to sunny day.

I was bullied by a NASA scientist at a party 10 years ago when I suggested their might be alternative theories. He may have been drinking too much, but he also clearly was taking my doubts personally rather than scientifically.

My own training is in engineering, business, and law. I consider myself more real scientist than most of these clowns who are politicians with Ph.D.’s.

I don’t trust models in any field that purport to predict the future but cannot explain the past.

Excellent perspective.

And, I do not trust models (or modelers) that have wayyyy too many variables; and, rely on intentionally skewed assumptions that predictably drive the result (irrespective of environmental sampling input data).

I wish I had Paint on this computer to circle the US Court of Appeals building. It's right in the middle of the sea of brown.

Thanks so much for your careful, detailed explanation. It seemed like there should be a logical explanation to the phenomenon I photographed. I didn't have anybody to ask.

It feels and my mind tricks me into thinking north-south for the flight path until I catch it by knowing the orientation of my house. Sometimes directions can be deceptive to me.

The most overturned appeals court in America. Trump needs to break them in 3.

“Someone please think up a case for conservative kids to bring.. I don’t know, something like the debt that they will owe forever?”

A while ago I thought about bringing up a case regarding national defense and the fact that we were not developing defenses against nukes from the Norks or Iran - after all the Constitution REQUIRES that the government provide for the “common defense” - and these countries were promising to nuke us, once they had the capability.

My lawyer friend told me that not only would it be thrown out, but I’d be fined too (because of the silliness of the suit), so I dropped the idea...perhaps that was a mistake?

If the children are unable to demonstrate a thorough understanding of their rights as defined by the Constitution and how these rights are being violated by the Trump Administration, the lawsuit should be dismissed.
