So why did they make a big deal that they were cancelling the discount? It did not help them now did it.
What happened is some dummy ran the fact that all of a sudden their social media, email, call centers were being slammed by angry leftists. The problem is that there wasn’t saner heads at the top that said we need to take a deep breath and not do anything stupid. What Delta and United did was give their competitors who kept their mouths shut a beautiful windfall.
This is indeed the question. It is the stupid practice of "virtue signalling" with the thought that the media tells them that everyone agrees with the liberal activist within the organization that prompts the move.
Screw them, screw REI etc etc.
It’s called “VIRTUE SIGNALING”; the ignorant asses couldn’t figure out that for a little “look at me, aren’t I progressive” time in the enemedia, they pissed off millions of potential customers.
Bad business decision. They didn’t think about the fact that many millions of their customers believe in the 2nd amendment, some of whom may be an NRA member that did not take their little discount, and many more that aren’t even an NRA member.
“So why did they make a big deal that they were cancelling the discount? It did not help them now did it.”
They had a PERFECT economic case to kill the discount, as it likely cost them many thousands to keep track of it. So all they had to do was quietly explain that to the NRA and end it, and if not done during these hysterical times, they’d still have their fuel break, and the NRA members.
