R E I.......Really Exceptional Idiots.......................
I’ve bought a couple of things from the local REI store but refuse to do so anymore. You can’t just go in and buy something. You get to the cash register and they start badgering you about their memberships and special programs.
I think I was buying a water bottle the last time. The cashier was asking if I had a membership, did any of my friends or relatives have a membership they could punch in? Another store employee actually walked up while I was checking out/dealing with the cashier. His question was “What do you not like about saving money?”. Felt kind of Jim Jones/Guyana-ish.
That was the last time I was there.
Don’t stop at guns but action video games and television shows. Boycott Chicago PD, Law and Order, Blacklist etc. No more until they remove guns!
Longtime member here. As a kid, pawing thru REI catalogs was a delight.
Just let REI board know I’ll stop shopping there, but will remain a member to vote anti-gun leadership out.

And Midway and Brownels and Cabelas.

“Cabelas.”
I still have a beloved Svea 123 gas stove purchased mail order from Cabelas 45 years ago.
Every few years I fire it up just to hear that little blow torch hum.
Freedom of choice.
“What does working towards common sense solutions mean?”
Total confiscation.
“Bye, bye, REI.”
Go fall off the Grand Canyon you filthy democrats.
Yep....been a member since the 70’s also.....going to their web page NOW.
REI, in its push for what they call “self propelled” exploring has a corporate culture of discrimination against the disabled. Their view is that if you cannot walk or ride a bicycle, then you have no business or right to visit the back country.
I learned this as a part-time employee some years ago. I haven’t been in one of their stores since.
Last purchase ever at REI.
I have a couple of friends that are avid bicycle riders who shop there. I ask them why not buy your stuff from the bicycle shops you frequent. Give the guy who keeps your bike fixed and has parts available the chance to make a buck, even if he has to order it.
