What republicans have done to deal with and outsmart the Dems has been what?
When I used to deal with my four year old I’d say, to their wacky, unprocessed, enthusiastic, dangerous, energetic, unwise, emotional, on the verge of anger ideas, was, “absolutely!! Sounds good! Let’s do!” Then give them a meal. They’d eat, get in some TV, sleep, think it through, reconsider and either to save face, forget about it or if they couldn’t get out of it, frightened with their power over me, come up with something else. But it was always their idea to do something different.

He’s certainly to my left on guns. But there also looks like he’s playing a game with Dems like he did with DACA.
1) He knows Dems can’t/won’t let him “win” on anything
2) A bipartisan gun control bill would be a “win” for the dealmaker president the way he has set things up (listening sessions, meetings, publicly saying “no” to republicans, etc)
3) He makes statements on gun control that make anti-2nd liberals excited and expecting to finally get something done
4) A bill comes up that the Dems can’t accept (point 2) but must accept (point 3). “Trump Hate” is still their top priority so they turn it down.
5) Nothing happens. He offered what a lot of liberals want and got enough republicans on board so Dems look bad while he looks reasonable. As with DACA, nothing gets done and it’s hard to blame Trump or republicans.
