This woman is not scared of weapons. Merely of the nutcases who misuse them. (And, were she still alive, my cat would not be scared, either.)
To: rktman
In my personal opinion, you have to receive a whole lot of training to use this weapon. And this weapon in the wrong hands can be more dangerous than most weapons because of its capability to do a lot of damage in a short period of time and be irreversible. Could be talking about the 1st Amendment.

Joseph Avery, who has more than 30 years of experience with the federal government in Army combat arms as an Air Force officer and in the Department of Defense...
Experience in Army combat arms as an Air Force officer?
What a load of crap ... well, CNN, which is the same thing.

Haha! We did test fire a .223 in a steel building once just to see what the suppressor did for noise reduction. That was hilarious. The echo and shock wave from the supersonic round over 300 feet to the backstop was excruciating. I had my ear phones on but the guys I was with thought the suppressor would do something. It didn’t.

We took one on a sailing trip around the Bahamas for protection against pirates who at the time had harassed and killed boaters in the area. Got to practice with it and were glad we had it. They shouldnt ban them. You need to up gun to a Garand or an M1A. FN FAL etc.

Yeah, using sub-sonic .223 would be kinda pointless. LOL!

Why not just start selling AR-15s with wooden stock sets standard? You mean, like, a Ruger Mini-14?

Experience in Army combat arms as an Air Force officer? Legitimate Possibility - Forward Air Controller.
That being said, the guy sounds quite ignorant.

“1/2 day of disassembly and assembly, and 1/2 day of shooting on the range”
That is all they gave us in Army ROTC.

If a .223 bruised the wimpy authors shoulder, what would your Garand with a 30-06 do to he/she/it/”whatever gender it associates with”. Taught my children to shoot with one and a .45 handgun.

Yeah,a 30-06 isn’t the right round to use if you just want to bruise someone.

That’s exactly what I mean. It’s a lot less scary and dangerous than those black rifles.

Same here. Pistol grips are great for arthritic hands, and being on blood thinners means I can not shoot my heavy rifles any more. They now bruise me bad, and the bruises stay and travel from my shoulder down my arm.

Some guy in NYC walked out of his apartment with a Garand, fired ONE SHOT and killed a man. The NYTimes went ballistic calling for a ban on semi-auto rifles because of that one shot.

They teach them to shoot 25 rounds, and then run to the nearest airplane that isn’t on fire.
If those guys are every using their firearms, we have bigger problems.
