Many ideas, some good & some not so good, emerged from our bipartisan meeting on school safety yesterday at the White House. Background Checks a big part of conversation. Gun free zones are proven targets of killers. After many years, a Bill should emerge. Respect 2nd Amendment!

Hard to reconcile this with his comments yesterday...
Exactly.
No he is signaling his displeasure about some of the proposals after thinking on it and hearing our voices.
We will not see any type of gun ban and will likely see a shoring up of the weaknesses in the Background Check systems.
Guns are not the problem.
I don't know what to make of what he said yesterday or if he even said it. I s'pect he did because many leftists today just want him hung rather than delivering to him death by a thousand cuts.
Nevertheless, with Trump, there is a need to give him a day or so to build the context of what he said (if he said it). There is time to oppose a policy in 48 hours, we don't need to join the Democrats in destroying him today.
I will, for the forseeable future, say, "If he said it..." or "If that really happened," unless I see it with my own lying eyes of hear Trump say it in real time.
I don't believe ANYTHING reported by most DC press (at least the big boys) about this administration. They will lie when the truth fits better.
Agreed.
But if this is a pivot, all bets on the Trump Train are OFF.
I'm sure CSPAN was there - you can get an uncut and unfiltered recording of the entire event there.
I'm not on broadband here and loath to spend my remote data allowance on it - will check that out over the weekend.
The best thing about Donald Trump is that he runs his administration like a pro wrestler. Unfortunately, that's also the WORST thing about him, too. LOL.
Waste of time. All necessary laws, rules and regulations already in place.
Take his genuine unvarnished thoughts on gun control . He said yesterday that the age to be able purchase rifles should be raised to 21, he said that due process was no big deal if it was an impediment to taking away guns, and he said that the failure of Congress to enact these ideas that he sees as obvious and reasonable is because they are afraid of the NRA.
As for Trump loyalists well they only had a few possible routes to take. They could say he doesnt really mean it, they could say he has a point you know, or they could say hmm? Gun meeting? No, I didnt hear about that, hey have you seen Black Panther?
Totally in watching and waiting mode - this could go so many different directions. What really doesn’t need to happen is getting a horse designed by committee, IOW a camel. Really didn’t care for how he treated Congressman Scalise, though. Compared to last week’s “listening session” BS with the barely pubescent lecturing because of victim status and denying the same respect to Scalise bothers me.
I don't follow pro wrestling.
What characterizes a pro wrestling-run administration?
I wasn't happy about many of his remarks yesterday, nor particularly pleased with his delivery of same. Yesterday was a good example of a wet blanket being tossed onto voters who aren't privy to inside info.
Mr. niteowl77
President Trump facilitates meetings. He doesnt shoot-down ideas or comments. Everyone walks away believing, rightly, that they were heard.
President Trump is a problem solver, not a demagogue, like most blockading politicians.
I have noticed that too many folks on this forum treat him like a politician. That is their mistake. He has delivered on so many campaign promises, but he will not do it the way that typical politicians do.
His last sentence, Respect the 2nd Amendment! Should remind you that while he listened to everyone, even that pathetic Feinstein, he has his eye on the prize! He is just not going to let the left keep a loaded pistol to the head of our kids. They have been held hostage for too long by the left!
When youre about to get run out of town on a rail, get out in front and call it a parade
Trump made his comments yesterday and I let his office know his base did not approve.
The ball is in Trump’s court.
From the little bit that I was able to stomach listening to it was a forum for a liberal lie fest. There was not one single “fact” that Dianne Feinstein uttered that was true.
It should be obvious that Democrats have no interest in anything other than gaining a “win” on some measure of “gun control”. Give in to them and you can guarantee two things. Republicans will lose control of the House and Senate, and Donald Trump will be impeached shortly thereafter.
It cannot be swept under the rug that this school shooting didn’t happen because of AR-15’s, big magazines, bump stocks or any number of the items the drooling fools on the left have identified on their to do list.
It didn’t happen because of some “loophole” in current laws. It was a direct result of multiple government agencies intentionally not acting because they want more federal funding.
It is especially troubling to listen to talk of violating “due process” for expediency. The police already have the ability to arrest someone for being a threat to themselves or others, and that includes disarming them. They should have the right to appear before a court immediately, and no one should be forced to pay for legal fees to have their Constitutionally protected rights restored.
I, up to this point, have been an ardent supporter of President Trump. I am seriously on the fence.
After Trump’s comments yesterday, that statement is hard to take at face value.
Most concerning of all was his statement regarding due process and the way he blew Pence off when Pence tried to interject some sanity into the discussion.
Comments like that could very well cost him the 5% or so of this base supporters that it would take to cost him re-election.
