ALT LAKE CITY — A new rule could kick out Mitt Romney and other candidates from their Utah Republican Party memberships.
The Utah Republican Party is trying to decide who can be part of the organization.
Under a new bylaw passed Saturday, Feb. 24, any Republican candidate who accepts signatures while on route to the primary election, will lose their party membership.
Utahpolicy.com reports the central committee backed the change, while party chairman Rob Anderson opposed.
The committee adopted one set of rules for the 1st and 2nd U.S House districts and a separate set of rules for the 3rd and 4th districts.
Chairman Anderson said the changes violate state law and the equal protection rights laid out in the constitution.
Under these new rules, senatorial candidate Mitt Romney (as well as other candidates), could be kicked out of Utah’s GOP, should he continue to gather signatures as part of his run.

Why shouldn’t they accept signatures on the way to the primary?
Which state GOP is Mitt a part of these days? Massachusetts? Michigan? Utah? California? Mitt makes Hillary look like she is a permanent resident of whatever state she lives in.

I could be wrong, but I don't see this rule change going anywhere. If the state allows politicians a place on the primary ballot by gathering signatures, it's not the party's place to prevent that.
BTW, who's the elite here and who isn't? Politicians who want to get around the caucus system by gathering signatures and winning primaries, or activists who think they can predominate in the caucuses and exclude other candidates from getting on the ballot?
Hopefully, this rule will disqualify him.

Romney has a history of corrupting young up and coming Republicans with his losership.

If you are going to have a Democrat Senator from Utah, then have a Democrat.
This is how Democrats stop conservatives by running Democrats in Republican Primaries pretending to be Republicans.
Thus, the Democrats have 2 people on the ballot running for U.S. Senate and 1 with a R by his name.

Still, I can't understand why Trump encouraged him to run and hold out hope that a genuine conservative would beat him in the primary.
Unlike McCain, Romney actually tried to win (at least at first), and doesn't take special delight in being a turd in the punch bowl. He just often turns out that way with the "reach across the aisle" habit he developed from being raised in the northeast.
