Not defending the Broward Cowards but I do recall hearing one of the Coral Gables officers saying tha5 he arrived on scene and grabbed his rifle and started running toward the gunfire and was picked up by a security guard in a golf cart that took him to the right building faster than he could run.

That being said, it sounds like the Coral Gables Police May have had rifles and the Broward officers only had pistols. If that is the case we should definitely be looking at why the difference.

In this particular case, it doesn't make any difference. My guess is that the sheriffs left their rifles in their car. The Sheriffs had pistols which is just as good as a rifle in a closed in environment such as a school. They would be engaging their targets within 100 feet, not 100 yards so it's a non issue.

Wealthy Broward county couldn’t afford them. Too much money has to go to the gonifs in the government.
