David Hogg, a survivor of the Parkland, Florida high school shooting, told Morning Joe on Monday that he thinks Gov. Rick Scott should be held accountable for the failure of three sheriffs deputies to confront the gunman.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to news outlets that three deputies from the Broward County Sheriffs Office remained outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High as the shooter opened fire, eventually killing 17 people.
Hogg, appearing on MSNBCs Morning Joe, said the news is raising concern in his community, before accusing elected officials of attempting the blame the shooting on bureaucracy.
Theyre in charge of them, Hogg said of those elected officials. This is their fault.
They should have been regulating them, he continued. Im not going to allow them to pressure these people because at the end of the day its their fault. These elected officials are the boss of these sheriff personnel and just like the president is the boss of the FBI, Governor Rick Scott is essentially the boss of Scott Israel, the sheriff, and as such he should be held accountable.
He cant just blame this on the bureaucracy and expect to get re-elected. Hogg went on to praise high school football coach Aaron Feis, who died shielding students from the gunman, unlike those cowardly Broward County Sheriff officials.
Sadly, these are a few individuals that did not conduct their job correctly, but I dont think its right that Governor Rick Scott is trying to blame this on the bureaucracy in an effort to get reelected.
Oh I get that totally— there is ZERO evidence the Governor of Florida would be directly in the minutiae of day to day statutory duties of FDLE, or the Broward Sheriff’s office- except as is evidenced by direct petition to the Governor by hacked off threatened citizens. So, we are in agreement. A
16 year old or 17 is in no capacity unless they are a prodigy genius— to 1.) first, make any kind of “judgemental” opinion statement - this is the same as some punk standing out in a field and yelling “hey, look at me or 2.) without qualifications that a teenager is unlikely to possess, pass any judgements of a State Executive- be valid for any broadcast news or opinion page to promote. In other words there is clearly someone (a large organization) funding this punk, and another group needs to shut him up- start with “where were you exactly during the shooting, and what were you doing, and.... why?”
