Florida Shooting: Why Is This One Different?
The Truth About Guns ^ | 02/25/18 | Robert Farago

Posted on 02/25/2018 12:05:53 PM PST by Simon Green

When the Newtown spree killer mowed down 20 children six and seven year olds and six adults, the call for federal gun control reached a fever pitch. It was thwarted in the final furlong by lovers of firearms freedom, galvanized into action by the legislative threat to firearms freedom. This time, after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School slaughter we have a Republican-controlled House and Senate and a Republican in the White House. And yet we’re seeing momentum for expanding [unconstitutional] background checks, raising the minimum age for a long gun purchase and Presidential support for due-process-denying “gun violence restraining orders.”

At the same, firearms freedom restoration — in the form of The Hearing Protection Act and The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act — are stuck in development hell.

What’s going on? What’s so different about this mass shooting aftermath as compared to the others that triggered former Second Amendment champions to Rubio to the forces of civilian disarmament?

Is it a cumulative effect: Vegas, Sutherland Springs, Parkland? Is it the mainstream media’s love fest with the ignorant teenagers demanding that the government curtail or eliminate their civil right to keep and bear arms? The fact that Donald Trump is our president?

You’d think the fact that the failure of multiple government agencies (including school authorities) to intercept the killer multiple times would make this spree killing less a focal point for gun control. But it sure doesn’t seem that way.

Are we losing ground here? If so, why now?

Because this one illustrates quite clearly how total and complete government incompetence and apathy allowed it to occur.

So we must be held accountable.

The powers that be LOVE mass shootings. In other countries, they have led to civilian disarmament. We need to be vigilant here. We MUST have additional armed security at schools and churches to prevent this from happening any more

I feel like this one is better organized by outside groups - like it is been planned for a while.

Apathy? is that the right word?

Because it is looking more and more like "intent" might be the proper word.

Had the guy resigned in disgrace the gun grabbers would have paid him a billion dollars because it would have kept the focus on guns. Now it is on the ineffective self entitled ruling class vs our safety.

The Dems want Florida in their column....really, really bad. This is merely a “get out the vote” campaign for them...AND...it’s aimed at whites.

Did you see this? (copying Steven W.’s comment to me plus link), essential reading:

WSJ has now published the transcript of reports on Cruz + ISIS etc. from the FBI that has been declassified.

http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/FBI-transcript-02-23-2018.pdf

Who do you think is leaking the info?
Take a wild guess.

My guess is Trump + Sessions & Wray (+Q of course lol) ;)

I think that's basically it.

The Left is losing everywhere you look. Trump is just trouncing these people even without strong support from his own party. But the Left saw this thing which is, at its heart, a local crime story made possible by the failure of local (and not so local) law enforcement, and the Left said, "Maybe we can use this and do some winning for a change."

But I think the Left will lose here too.

The impeach President Trump plan isn't working too good. Democrat don't have a lot of ways to win Florida in 2020.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, how did it get that name? (source Wikipedia)

Marjory Stoneman Douglas (April 7, 1890 – May 14, 1998) religious views: Although Douglas grew up in an Episcopalian household, she described herself as agnostic throughout her life, and forbade any religious ceremony at her memorial.

Douglas also served as a charter member of the first American Civil Liberties Union chapter organized in the South in the 1950s. She lent her support to the Equal Rights Amendment, speaking to the legislature in Tallahassee urging them to ratify it. In the 1980s Douglas lent her support to the Florida Rural Legal Services, a group that worked to protect migrant farm workers

Two reasons....

1. The killer lived. The swine will be a constant nagging reminder every time there is even the tiniest update to his status and the pending court case.

2. The massive failure of everything that liberal progressives hold dear. They demand you place all security trust in the state...it failed at every level, from Sheriff to FBI to School Administrators to Social Services. George Soros will be glad to spend billions of dollars to shield ALL of what they revere from accountability to the fake outrage and targeting of the NRA will be endless as noise to distract.

It seems that the democrats are much better prepped to attack the NRA and gun ownership this time. They must have been doing a lot of casting, rehearsals, dry runs, seminars etc and training to be evil.

I don’t know, you could very well be right.

I’d like to think it was apathy, but maybe it wasn’t.

It is different because it is the third top ten deadliest shooting in the last five months quite honestly.

Don’t forget that the victims were all white. The same number of black kids are slaughtered in Chicago each and every month. But they’re far less newsworthy.
