Yep, if you read the whole story....parents got concerned and actually flew down to Atlanta. So, his car is sitting there. Keys sitting on the table. Wallet and phone are in plain view. It’s like he just walked out.

Adding to this, he does a phone-call-in for the sick excuse. For a gov’t worker, it’ll work for the first day or so, but you need to get a doctor’s note for a longer period. It appears like someone came by....that he knew, and he just called in sick and went off with the associate.

Oddly, we aren’t talking about some idiot. This guy has a doctorate degree and was considered fairly bright.

I’d be thinking some kind of drug-issue or woman-problem....but you would have taken your billfold with you.

Other thing...he left the dog there in the house. Most dog owners wouldn’t have done that so easily.

You're right... add that into the way the story came out... all over the internet first. Someone is VERY worried about this guy... and it's not 'cause his Mommy misses him.

There’s another possibility: Some diseases mess with your mind something awful! He may have walked out the door while hallucinating, or forgotten where he was, or be talking to a tree somewhere.

I don’t know how much of a probability that is, but I just wanted to throw it out as a possibility. I think if it was suicide, he would have done something to make sure his dog was ok. And the billfold is a big clue also.

Also read according to co-workers he left work early because he felt sick. He didn’t call in sick.

This sounds like either he went into witsec, he was kidnapped or he just decided to chuck it all.

I'm still speculating that he caught something weird, and did not want to subject himself to CDC protocols. Maybe he thought he would get "offed" in the CDC, the way Stuart Redman almost was in Stovington, VT, in The Stand.

Of course, he may just have wandered off into the woods to die, in the hopes that other people wouldn't contract whatever horror he has/had.
